Most of these ingredients are generally well tolerated when taken at typical doses. Papain may cause allergic reactions (itchy eyes, runny nose, abdominal cramps, diarrhea) in sensitive people, and high doses carry rare risks of severe stomach irritation or even esophageal perforation.
