EcoPhage Ingredients & Drug Interactions
by Body Ecology
What is this page for?
First and foremost: checking EcoPhage against your medications. The heart of this page is the interaction checker and the full interaction report — how this product’s ingredients may interact with prescription and over-the-counter medicines you may be taking.
Around that, we add a pharmacist’s high-level view of the product as a whole — what’s inside, the evidence for its stated use, how transparent the label is, and what safety data exists — so you can see the full picture in one place. It’s educational information from our licensed clinical databases and the clinical staff at HelloPharmacist — not medical advice — and we don’t sell or endorse products. Our editorial policy
EcoPhage is a dietary supplement by Body Ecology with 5 active ingredients. Its ingredients are commonly taken for digestive health and balance, diarrhea (including antibiotic-related), vaginal yeast and bacterial infections.Based on those ingredients, 182 medications have a known interaction with it, the most serious rated moderate. The ingredients most likely to interact are Probiotic Bacteria. Use the checker below to test your specific medication, or read the full HelloPharmacist Interaction Report.

HelloPharmacist Scorecard of EcoPhage by Body Ecology
Our pharmacy team’s full take, with four database checks built into the cards below — a summary of what is known, not a grade of the product itself.
What’s inside
Low disclosure
EcoPhage contains 8 ingredients, including four active probiotics and a blend called PreforPro. The live probiotics are Lactobacillus acidophilus (a common gut bacterium), Bifidobacterium animalis lactis, Bacillus coagulans, and Bacillus subtilis DE111—all meant to support digestive health.
PreforPro is a bacteriophage blend (viruses that target bacteria); its individual components are listed separately on the label. The remaining inactive ingredients are capsule material, binders, and fillers.
Does it work?
Moderate evidence
The evidence for EcoPhage's ingredients is mixed. Lactobacillus acidophilus is possibly effective for irritable bowel syndrome (IBS), Helicobacter pylori infection, antibiotic-associated diarrhea, and bacterial vaginosis, but possibly ineffective for atopic disease.
Bacillus coagulans is possibly effective for constipation and IBS. Bacillus subtilis DE111 is possibly effective for antibiotic-associated diarrhea.
For many other uses—athletic performance, liver health, cirrhosis, eczema, and diabetes—the evidence in our data is insufficient to rate. We hold no effectiveness data for the bacteriophage components or Bifidobacterium animalis lactis.
How safe is it?
Well-documented data
The three checked probiotics are generally well tolerated in healthy adults, though safety data vary and are sometimes limited. The main concern with live probiotic organisms is a rare risk of infection spreading through the bloodstream in people who are severely ill, immunocompromised, or have indwelling catheters—not typical for otherwise healthy people.
Gastrointestinal side effects like bloating, gas, abdominal discomfort, or diarrhea are uncommon but possible, especially when probiotics are combined. One trial reported a small number of rash cases, though it's unclear if they were due to this product.
Bacillus subtilis has been rarely associated with headache and diarrhea in trials. We hold no pregnancy or lactation safety data for any ingredient in this product; talk with your doctor or pharmacist if you're pregnant or breastfeeding.
Meds to double-check
Moderate interaction found
If you take antibiotics, do not take EcoPhage at the same time. The antibiotic will likely kill the live organisms in the product and make it ineffective.
Separate them by several hours and ask your pharmacist or doctor which timing works best for your specific antibiotic. Use the medication checker below to confirm your drugs before you start.
The bottom line
Scorecard at a glanceFormula with limited ingredient disclosure with some supporting evidence for its stated purpose. Moderate medication interactions have been identified, and safety information is well characterized.
EcoPhage may help with IBS, constipation, antibiotic-associated diarrhea, and a couple of other digestive issues, depending on which ingredient targets your concern. If you take antibiotics, you'll need to time this product carefully—space them a few hours apart so the drugs don't kill the probiotics.
Generally well tolerated, but talk with your pharmacist before starting, especially if you're ill, immunocompromised, or pregnant.

EcoPhage by Body Ecology Drug Interactions
HelloPharmacist Interaction Report
EcoPhage by Body Ecology is a probiotic blend that does interact with antibiotic drugs.
The product contains three live-organism ingredients—Lactobacillus acidophilus, Bacillus coagulans, and Bacillus subtilis DE111—that can all be affected by antibiotics. Since these probiotics are living cells, taking antibiotics at the same time may kill a significant number of them and reduce their effectiveness.
The interaction severity is Moderate for all three.
Read the full breakdown — every affected drug type, severity by severity
If you're on an antibiotic, you'll want to separate when you take it from when you take EcoPhage. Your doctor or pharmacist can help you space them out—typically a few hours apart works, but it depends on the antibiotic and your situation.
We could not check three other ingredients in this product: Bifidobacterium animalis lactis, LH01, LL5, and T4D. We hold no interaction data for them.
Altogether, these interactions span 182 individual medications. Use the medication checker on this page to look up any prescriptions or over-the-counter drugs you take before starting EcoPhage.

Antibiotic Drugs
Theoretically, taking Lactobacillus acidophilus with antibiotic drugs might decrease the effectiveness of L. acidophilus.
L. acidophilus preparations usually contain live and active organisms. Therefore, simultaneously taking antibiotics might kill a significant number of the organisms. Tell patients to separate administration of antibiotics and L. acidophilus preparations by at least two hours.
