What’s inside

Low disclosure
Ingredient Transparency · database check
Low

Most active ingredients don't disclose an individual amount — you can't tell how much of each you're getting.

Why this rating?
  • The label discloses an exact amount for 0 of its 4 active ingredients.
  • “Proprietary Blend” is a proprietary blend — the label doesn't break down how much of each component you get.

Endomune Jr is a powder with 4 active ingredients, all probiotics — beneficial bacteria that live in your gut. You've got Bifidobacterium bifidum, B. longum, B. lactis, and Lactobacillus acidophilus.

These are the live organisms that do the work. The product also contains inactive ingredients: rice dextrin, fructooligosaccharides, and silicon dioxide, which are fillers and flow agents.

Moderate evidence
Evidence for Intended Use · database check
By FDA rules, dietary supplements can’t claim to treat, cure, or prevent disease — so labels speak in careful marketing language. We discern each product’s intended use from its name, label claims, and label statements, then grade the clinical evidence for that use. How these ratings are computed
Moderate

Some clinical evidence supports this product's ingredients for its stated purpose, but it isn't conclusive.

Why this rating?
  • The label markets this product for: digestive health naturally.
  • We looked for evidence on: Antibiotic-associated diarrhea, Constipation, Diarrhea, Irritable bowel syndrome (IBS), Lactose intolerance, gut flora balance — and 1 related terms.
  • The strongest evidence on file: Lactobacillus Acidophilus is rated "Possibly Effective" for Antibiotic-associated diarrhea (Natural Medicines).
  • Also on file: Lactobacillus Acidophilus is rated "Possibly Effective" for Irritable bowel syndrome (IBS).
  • Also on file: Bifidobacterium Bifidum is rated "Possibly Effective" for Irritable bowel syndrome (IBS).

The evidence is mixed and ingredient-specific. L. acidophilus is possibly effective for irritable bowel syndrome (IBS), Helicobacter pylori infection, antibiotic-associated diarrhea, and bacterial vaginosis.

B. bifidum is possibly effective for IBS and respiratory tract infections. B. longum has insufficient evidence to rate for the conditions studied so far — the research just isn't conclusive yet.

For a lot of the conditions the other ingredients have been tested on, we don't have strong enough data to say whether they work.

How safe is it?

Well-documented data
Safety Information · database check
Well characterized

Adverse-effect, pregnancy, and general safety data are on file for most of these ingredients.

Why this rating?
  • We hold adverse-effect (side-effect) data for 3 of the 3 matched ingredients.
  • Pregnancy & breastfeeding safety ratings cover 3 of 3.
  • General safety write-ups exist for 3 of 3.
  • Remember: this measures how much safety information exists. Thin data is not the same as being safe.

These probiotics are generally well tolerated in healthy people. That said, if you have a weakened immune system, are seriously ill, or are in the hospital, talk with your doctor before starting — there are rare reports of these bacteria entering the bloodstream (bacteremia) in critically ill patients, though it's uncommon.

Mild bloating, gas, or abdominal discomfort can happen with probiotics in general, but these side effects tend to be rare. B. bifidum is possibly safe in pregnancy; B. longum and L. acidophilus are both possibly safe in pregnancy and lactation.

We don't have safety data on file for B. lactis in pregnancy or breastfeeding, so ask your doctor before using it in those situations.

Moderate interaction found
Known Interaction Concern · database check
Moderate identified

The most serious documented interaction for these ingredients is Moderate. Check your medications for a personalized result.

Why this rating?
  • 3 of the 3 matched ingredients can interact with medications — Lactobacillus Acidophilus, Bifidobacterium Bifidum, Bifidobacterium Longum.
  • The most serious interaction on file is rated Moderate.
  • For scale: 182 individual medications appear in the full list. A big number alone doesn't make a product dangerous — what matters is whether YOUR medication is on it, so run yours through the interaction checker on this page.

Separate this product from antibiotic drugs — antibiotics can kill off the live bacteria in this powder and make it less effective. Space your doses by a few hours or follow your doctor's guidance on timing.

We hold no interaction data for B. lactis, so if you want to be thorough, mention that ingredient to your pharmacist as well.

The bottom line

Scorecard at a glanceFormula with limited ingredient disclosure with some supporting evidence for its stated purpose. Moderate medication interactions have been identified, and safety information is well characterized.

Endomune Jr is a multi-strain probiotic powder that may help with certain gut conditions like IBS and some antibiotic-related diarrhea, though the evidence for some strains is still being worked out. If you take antibiotics, you'll want to space them apart from this product so the bacteria don't get killed off.

If you're immunocompromised or seriously ill, check with your doctor before starting. Talk it over with your own doctor or pharmacist to see if it's right for your situation.

Endomune Jr by Medical Care Innovations: Common Questions

Does Endomune Jr by Medical Care Innovations interact with any medications?
Yes. Based on its ingredients, Endomune Jr has a known interaction with 182 medications. Use the checker to see how it interacts with a specific drug.
How can one product interact with so many drugs?
Endomune Jr contains 4 active ingredients, and an interaction can come from any of them. We check every ingredient, combine the results into one list per medication, and show which ingredient and mechanism is responsible.
Where does this information come from?
The product label data comes from the NIH Dietary Supplement Label Database (DSLD); the interaction data is built on the Natural Medicines database and reviewed by HelloPharmacist pharmacists.
Can I take Endomune Jr while I'm on antibiotics?
Not at the same time. Antibiotics will kill the live bacteria in the powder. Ask your pharmacist how many hours to wait between doses — usually a few hours apart is enough. Your doctor can give you the best spacing for your specific antibiotic.
Is this safe if I'm pregnant or breastfeeding?
B. bifidum, B. longum, and L. acidophilus are possibly safe in pregnancy and lactation, though data are limited. B. lactis doesn't have pregnancy or breastfeeding data on file. Talk with your doctor or pharmacist before using it while pregnant or nursing — they can weigh the benefits against any unknowns.
What is this supposed to help with?
The evidence is strongest for IBS — B. bifidum and L. acidophilus are possibly effective for that. L. acidophilus may also help with antibiotic-associated diarrhea, bacterial vaginosis, and H. pylori. For other conditions, the research isn't strong enough yet to say for sure.
Will it cause bloating or gas?
Some people report bloating or gas with probiotics, but it's uncommon with these strains — especially B. bifidum, where it hasn't been reported. If it happens, it's usually mild and temporary.
Is this safe if I have a weak immune system?
If you're immunocompromised, seriously ill, or in the hospital, check with your doctor before starting. There are rare reports of these bacteria entering the bloodstream in critically ill patients, so your doctor needs to weigh the risks and benefits for your situation.
