HelloPharmacist Scorecard of Eucaplyptus Alcohol Free by Herbal Terra
Our pharmacy team’s full take, with four database checks built into the cards below — a summary of what is known, not a grade of the product itself.
What’s inside
Full disclosure
Eucaplyptus Alcohol Free contains one active ingredient, eucalyptus leaf extract (dry). Eucalyptus is the plant source of the compound eucalyptol, which is the basis for most of the interaction and safety concerns we hold for this product.
The listed inactive ingredients are glycerin and water.
Does it work?
Couldn't assess
Eucalyptus leaf extract has not been rated as effective for any of the uses we hold data on. Our ratings for acne, bronchitis, asthma, burns, and cancer all read Insufficient Reliable Evidence To Rate, which means the evidence is not established in the data we hold.
How safe is it?
Well-documented data
Our safety notes say eucalyptus oil is generally well tolerated in small amounts when inhaled or diluted for skin use, but the undiluted oil can be poisonous if swallowed. The notes advise against taking the oil internally and say there is not enough reliable safety data to rule out risk, so they recommend keeping it away from babies.
Common side effects include nausea, vomiting, and diarrhea when taken by mouth, and burning, itching, or redness on the skin. Rare but serious effects, including central nervous system depression and seizures, are reported with the undiluted oil, and an allergic reaction has been reported in one patient.
Our pregnancy and lactation rating for this ingredient is Likely Safe. Because that is not a guarantee for your situation, talk it over with your own doctor or pharmacist before using it while pregnant or breastfeeding.

Eucaplyptus Alcohol Free by Herbal Terra Drug Interactions
HelloPharmacist Interaction Report
Eucaplyptus Alcohol Free from Herbal Terra can interact with several types of medication, all through its eucalyptus leaf extract, which is the only active ingredient listed.
The most serious severity we hold for it is Moderate, and every interaction on file carries that rating.
Read the full breakdown — every affected drug type, severity by severity
The largest group involves liver enzymes (cytochrome P450). Theoretically, eucalyptus might raise the levels of drugs cleared by CYP1A2, CYP2C19, CYP2C9, and CYP3A4 substrates, each rated Moderate.
The liver-enzyme effect comes from in vitro research, and the inhibition has not been reported in humans. Altogether, these interactions span 881 individual medications.
Antidiabetes drugs (medications for blood sugar) are also affected, rated Moderate. Theoretically, eucalyptus leaf might increase the risk of low blood sugar (hypoglycemia), and animal research suggests additive effects when combined with them.
Amphetamines, rated Moderate, may also be less effective when eucalyptol is inhaled, based on theory and animal research showing lower blood levels. Pentobarbital, also rated Moderate, may be less effective with inhaled eucalyptol, since animal research shows less of the drug reaching the brain.
