What’s inside

Low disclosure
Ingredient Transparency · database check
Low

Most active ingredients don't disclose an individual amount — you can't tell how much of each you're getting.

Why this rating?
  • The label discloses an exact amount for 0 of its 3 active ingredients.
  • “Extra Strength Novatest” is listed as a grouped ingredient — the label gives one combined amount (30 mg) without saying how much of each component you get.
  • “Tri-Methyl-Flavone Complex:” is a proprietary blend — the label doesn't break down how much of each component you get.

Extra Strength Novatest contains 3 active ingredients, including 7-methoxyflavone and a Tri-Methyl-Flavone Complex (which includes 5,7-dimethoxyflavone and 7,4'-dimethoxyflavone). These are plant-derived flavones — compounds with potential hormonal activity.

The product also contains a number of inactive ingredients including magnesium stearate, silica, citric and malic acids, artificial colors, and sucralose to help with flavor and texture.

Couldn't assess
Evidence for Intended Use · database check
By FDA rules, dietary supplements can’t claim to treat, cure, or prevent disease — so labels speak in careful marketing language. We discern each product’s intended use from its name, label claims, and label statements, then grade the clinical evidence for that use. How these ratings are computed
Not assessable

This is a single-ingredient 7-methoxyflavone product and its label doesn't state a use — see 7-methoxyflavone's own graded uses on its monograph.

Why this rating?
  • We looked at the product name, claims, and label statements and couldn't find a stated purpose to grade.

The product facts we hold contain no effectiveness ratings for any of the ingredients in Extra Strength Novatest. That means we don't have established evidence on file about whether this product delivers the results it's marketed for.

How safe is it?

Limited data
Safety Information · database check
Limited information

Little studied safety information is available for these ingredients — that is not the same as being safe.

Why this rating?
  • We hold adverse-effect (side-effect) data for 0 of the 1 matched ingredient.
  • Pregnancy & breastfeeding safety ratings cover 0 of 1.
  • General safety write-ups exist for 1 of 1.
  • Remember: this measures how much safety information exists. Thin data is not the same as being safe.

Human safety data for 7-methoxyflavone are very limited, and the product facts advise against use due to unknown safety and possible effects on hormones. No adverse effects or side-effect frequencies are documented in our data.

We also hold no pregnancy or breastfeeding safety information for this product's ingredients — there isn't enough data to know either way, so talk with your doctor or pharmacist if you're pregnant, planning pregnancy, or nursing before taking it.

Meds to double-check

Moderate interaction found
Known Interaction Concern · database check
Moderate identified

The most serious documented interaction for these ingredients is Moderate. Check your medications for a personalized result.

Why this rating?
  • 1 of the 1 matched ingredient can interact with medications — 7-methoxyflavone.
  • The most serious interaction on file is rated Moderate.
  • For scale: 12 individual medications appear in the full list. A big number alone doesn't make a product dangerous — what matters is whether YOUR medication is on it, so run yours through the interaction checker on this page.

Check with your doctor or pharmacist before using this product if you take testosterone therapy or aromatase inhibitors (such as anastrozole, exemestane, or letrozole). Both interactions are Moderate-severity.

We could not check two of the three ingredient groups in this product, so be sure your pharmacist reviews your complete medication list.

The bottom line

Scorecard at a glanceFormula with limited ingredient disclosure with no assessable stated purpose. Moderate medication interactions have been identified, and safety information is limited.

This product is marketed as an extra-strength option, but the safety data are sparse and hormonal activity is a real concern. Anyone taking testosterone or aromatase inhibitors (or any other prescription medication) needs to check those specific drugs against this product before starting.

If you're considering it, talk it over with your doctor or pharmacist first, especially if you have any hormone-sensitive condition.

Extra Strength Novatest by XL Xero Limits: Common Questions

Does Extra Strength Novatest by XL Xero Limits interact with any medications?
Yes. Based on its ingredients, Extra Strength Novatest has a known interaction with 12 medications. Use the checker to see how it interacts with a specific drug.
How can one product interact with so many drugs?
Extra Strength Novatest contains a single active ingredient, and that one ingredient can interact with many different medications on its own. We check it against each medication and show the mechanism responsible.
Where does this information come from?
The product label data comes from the NIH Dietary Supplement Label Database (DSLD); the interaction data is built on the Natural Medicines database and reviewed by HelloPharmacist pharmacists.
Is this safe to take?
Human safety data are very limited, and the product facts advise against use due to unknown safety and possible hormonal effects. There's not enough information to call it clearly safe. Talk with your doctor or pharmacist before starting, especially if you have any condition affected by hormones.
Can I take this if I'm on testosterone therapy?
Not without checking first. 7-methoxyflavone, the main active ingredient, inhibits an enzyme that converts testosterone to estrogen. Using them together could increase both the benefits and side effects of your testosterone. Check with your doctor or pharmacist before combining them.
What about if I take an aromatase inhibitor for breast cancer?
You'll need to talk with your doctor or pharmacist first. 7-methoxyflavone also blocks aromatase, so combining them might intensify the effects — both wanted and unwanted — of your cancer medication. Don't start this product without clearing it with your healthcare provider.
What are these flavones supposed to do?
The product facts we hold don't include any established effectiveness ratings for these ingredients, so we don't have evidence on file about what they're meant to achieve.
Is it safe during pregnancy or breastfeeding?
We don't hold any pregnancy or breastfeeding safety data for this product's ingredients. There isn't enough information to know either way. If you're pregnant, planning pregnancy, or nursing, talk with your doctor or pharmacist before taking it.
