What’s inside
Full disclosure
This product contains one active ingredient: figwort, 450 mg per capsule. Figwort is a plant traditionally used in herbal medicine, though the specifics of what it does in the body aren't well established in modern research.
The capsule also holds two inactive ingredients — gelatin and water — which help deliver the figwort but have no therapeutic role themselves.
Does it work?
Couldn't assess
We don't have effectiveness data on file for figwort. The evidence for what this supplement actually does isn't established in our monograph, so we can't tell you whether it works or how well.
How safe is it?
Some data gaps
Here's what we know and don't know: figwort has limited safety data, so the advice is to use it cautiously and for the short term only. There aren't enough reliable safety studies during pregnancy, so the data advises against it while pregnant.
Similarly, there's no solid safety information for breastfeeding — the safest approach is to avoid it while nursing. We don't have a list of common side effects from trials, so we can't say what to watch for beyond the diuretic interactions already covered.
Meds to double-check
Moderate interaction found
If you take lithium for a mood disorder, figwort could raise your lithium levels and requires dose adjustment — check with your doctor or pharmacist first. If you're on a potassium-depleting diuretic (water pill), figwort may worsen potassium loss and you might need supplementation or monitoring.
The bottom line
Scorecard at a glanceFully disclosed formula with no assessable stated purpose. Moderate medication interactions have been identified, and some safety-information gaps remain.
Figwort is a single-ingredient supplement with limited safety research and no established effectiveness data in our records. If you take lithium or a water pill, you'll want to talk with your doctor or pharmacist before starting it — the interactions could be significant.
Pregnancy and breastfeeding are reasons to skip it based on the safety data we have.

Figwort 450 mg by TerraVita Premium Collection Drug Interactions
HelloPharmacist Interaction Report
Figwort 450 mg by TerraVita Premium Collection does interact with medications.
Its diuretic properties — the ability to increase urine flow — create two areas of concern.
Read the full breakdown — every affected drug type, severity by severity
The most serious interaction is with lithium, a medication used for mood disorders. Because figwort may reduce how your body clears lithium, taking them together could raise lithium levels in your blood to unsafe ranges.
Your doctor would need to lower your lithium dose if you add figwort, and monitoring would be essential.
Figwort also pairs with caution alongside potassium-depleting diuretics (water pills). Diuretics already pull potassium out of your system; figwort's own diuretic action could compound that loss, raising your risk of low blood potassium (hypokalemia).
You might need potassium supplementation or a dose increase if you're on both.
Before you start figwort, check your exact medications with the tool on this page — especially if you take lithium or any diuretic. Altogether, these interactions span 76 individual medications.

For each ingredient in Figwort 450 mg with known interactions, here are the types of medications it can affect. Open any type for the detail — or search your exact drug in the checker above.
Figwort
Diuretic Drugs
Theoretically, overuse of figwort might compound diuretic-induced potassium loss. There is some concern that people taking figwort along with potassium depleting diuretics might have an increased risk for hypokalemia. Initiation of potassium supplementation or an increase in potassium supplement dose may be necessary for some patients. Some diuretics that can deplete potassium include chlorothiazide (Diuril), chlorthalidone (Thalitone), furosemide (Lasix), hydrochlorothiazide (HCTZ, Hydrodiuril, Microzide), and others.
Lithium
Figwort is thought to have diuretic properties. Theoretically, due to these potential diuretic effects, figwort might reduce excretion and increase levels of lithium. The dose of lithium might need to be decreased.
