What’s inside
Full disclosure
This product contains one active ingredient: Himalayan Shilajit at 100 mg per capsule. Shilajit is a mineral-rich substance traditionally used in Ayurvedic medicine.
The capsule also contains inactive ingredients — cellulose, magnesium stearate, and silica — which are common binders and flow agents.
Does it work?
Not established
The evidence for shilajit isn't yet established for the uses studied so far. The data we hold shows insufficient reliable evidence to rate it for Alzheimer disease, sexual dysfunction, athletic performance, benign prostatic hyperplasia (enlarged prostate), and osteopenia (low bone density).
That doesn't mean it doesn't work — it means larger, well-designed human studies are needed to know.
How safe is it?
Well-documented data
Shilajit is generally well tolerated, though a small number of adverse effects have been reported: one case of a severe allergic reaction (hives and anaphylaxis) triggered by a higher dose and exercise, and rare headaches in clinical research. A case of high blood pressure was reported during pregnancy, though the role of shilajit wasn't confirmed.
The key safety concern is purity: unpurified products may contain heavy metals or other contaminants, so use only purified, tested brands. The safety data advises against use during pregnancy and breastfeeding.
Meds to double-check
Moderate interaction found
Antidiabetes drugs (Moderate severity): shilajit may increase the risk of low blood sugar when combined with these medications. If you take any antidiabetes medication, check it with the search tool on this page before use.
The bottom line

This product is a single-ingredient mineral supplement with limited evidence for the conditions it's studied for. If you take antidiabetes medication, check your specific drugs before starting — shilajit can lower blood sugar further.

Antidiabetes Drugs
Taking shilajit with antidiabetes drugs might increase the risk of hypoglycemia.
Most human and animal research shows that shilajit can decrease fasting plasma glucose levels. In an animal model, shilajit 100 mg per kg daily enhanced the glucose-lowering ability of both glibenclamide and metformin when given in combination over a 4 week period. Monitor blood glucose levels closely. Dose adjustments might be necessary.
