What’s inside

Low disclosure
Ingredient Transparency · database check
Low

Most active ingredients don't disclose an individual amount — you can't tell how much of each you're getting.

Why this rating?
  • The label discloses an exact amount for 0 of its 1 active ingredient.

Gokshur Powder contains one active ingredient: tribulus powder. There are no other inactive ingredients listed.

Does it work?

Not established
Evidence for Intended Use · database check
By FDA rules, dietary supplements can’t claim to treat, cure, or prevent disease — so labels speak in careful marketing language. We discern each product’s intended use from its name, label claims, and label statements, then grade the clinical evidence for that use. How these ratings are computed
Not established

The graded evidence we hold for these ingredients covers different conditions than the ones this product is marketed for, so there's no established rating for its stated use — see Tribulus's own graded uses on its monograph.

Why this rating?
  • The label markets this product for: support urinary and immune system health.
  • We looked for evidence on: Bacterial vaginosis, Gonorrhea, Kidney stones (nephrolithiasis), urinary tract health, urinary system function.
  • The closest evidence on file: Tribulus is rated "Insufficient Reliable Evidence To Rate" for Bacterial vaginosis (Natural Medicines).
  • Also on file: Tribulus is rated "Insufficient Reliable Evidence To Rate" for Kidney stones (nephrolithiasis), Gonorrhea.

Tribulus appears to be possibly effective for sexual dysfunction — that's the main claim with research backing. For athletic performance, the evidence leans toward possibly ineffective.

The safety and effectiveness data for benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH, or enlarged prostate) isn't reliable enough to rate.

How safe is it?

Well-documented data
Safety Information · database check
Well characterized

Adverse-effect, pregnancy, and general safety data are on file for most of these ingredients.

Why this rating?
  • We hold adverse-effect (side-effect) data for 1 of the 1 matched ingredient.
  • Pregnancy & breastfeeding safety ratings cover 1 of 1.
  • General safety write-ups exist for 1 of 1.
  • Remember: this measures how much safety information exists. Thin data is not the same as being safe.

Tribulus is generally well tolerated short-term in healthy adults, but quality and long-term safety data are limited. Most people don't have problems with it, though gastrointestinal upset — abdominal pain, cramping, nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, or constipation — can occur; in one study, these complaints were about the same as placebo.

Serious side effects are rare but have been reported: liver and kidney injury, seizures, and a painful erection that interfered with sexual function. Avoid this product during pregnancy because it may affect hormones and safety isn't established.

Don't use it while breastfeeding due to lack of reliable safety information.

  • The most serious interaction on file is rated Moderate.
  • Some involve high-stakes drug classes: diabetes medications; lithium.
  • For scale: 259 individual medications appear in the full list. A big number alone doesn't make a product dangerous — what matters is whether YOUR medication is on it, so run yours through the interaction checker on this page.

Before taking Gokshur Powder, check with your doctor or pharmacist if you take blood pressure medications, diabetes medications, or lithium. Tribulus can lower blood pressure and blood sugar and may raise lithium levels, all with Moderate severity.

The bottom line

Scorecard at a glanceFormula with limited ingredient disclosure with no established evidence rating for its marketed use. Moderate medication interactions have been identified, and safety information is well characterized.

Gokshur Powder may be worth considering if you're interested in sexual function support and don't take blood pressure or diabetes medications or lithium. If you're on any of those drugs, or any prescription at all, talk with your doctor or pharmacist before adding this herb — the interaction risk is real.

Long-term safety data are sparse, so this is best used short-term and under guidance.

Gokshur Powder by Herbal Hills: Common Questions

Does Gokshur Powder by Herbal Hills interact with any medications?
Yes. Based on its ingredients, Gokshur Powder has a known interaction with 259 medications. Use the checker to see how it interacts with a specific drug.
How can one product interact with so many drugs?
Gokshur Powder contains a single active ingredient, and that one ingredient can interact with many different medications on its own. We check it against each medication and show the mechanism responsible.
Where does this information come from?
The product label data comes from the NIH Dietary Supplement Label Database (DSLD); the interaction data is built on the Natural Medicines database and reviewed by HelloPharmacist pharmacists.
Does tribulus actually work for sexual dysfunction?
The evidence says it's possibly effective — meaning there's some research support, but it's not definitive. Your results may vary, and it's not guaranteed to help everyone.
Can I take this if I'm pregnant or breastfeeding?
No. Avoid it during pregnancy because it may affect hormones and safety isn't established. Also avoid it while breastfeeding because there's not enough reliable safety information.
What side effects should I watch for?
Most people tolerate it well, but stomach upset — cramps, nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, or constipation — can happen. Serious effects are rare but have included liver and kidney injury and seizures. Stop and call your doctor if anything feels off.
Is tribulus safe to use long-term?
Long-term safety data are limited. It's been studied short-term in healthy adults with okay results, but we don't have strong evidence for extended use.
Will this help me build muscle or improve athletic performance?
No — the evidence for athletic performance leans toward possibly ineffective, so tribulus isn't supported for that goal.
