How safe is it?

Both ingredients in this product carry serious safety flags. Epazote contains ascaridole, a toxic compound with a very narrow margin between an effective dose and a dangerous one — it's classified as unsafe for oral use.
It can cause dizziness, headache, vomiting, skin and mucous membrane irritation, and in rare cases, circulatory collapse, convulsions, temporary deafness, kidney and liver damage, paralysis, and death. Wormwood contains thujone, a neurotoxin that can trigger nausea, vomiting, muscle aches, and in rare instances, acute kidney damage, seizures, and rhabdomyolysis.
Chronic heavy use has been linked to hallucinations, tremors, brain damage, and psychiatric illness. Neither ingredient should be used during pregnancy — both may stimulate the uterus and carry serious toxicity risks.
Epazote is unsafe during breastfeeding, and wormwood is best avoided while nursing due to insufficient safety data. The safety data advises against both during these periods.
