Our pharmacy team’s full take, with four database checks built into the cards below — a summary of what is known, not a grade of the product itself.
What’s inside
Full disclosure
This product contains a single active ingredient: shilajit extract. Shilajit is a mineral-rich substance traditionally used in Ayurvedic medicine.
Since this is a single-ingredient powder with no other inactive fillers or binders on file, you're getting shilajit and nothing else.
Does it work?
No specific claim
The evidence for shilajit isn't established yet for the conditions we have data on. Our records show insufficient reliable evidence to rate it for Alzheimer disease, sexual dysfunction, athletic performance, benign prostatic hyperplasia (enlarged prostate), and osteopenia (low bone density).
That doesn't mean it doesn't work — it means the research so far hasn't been strong enough to say one way or the other.
How safe is it?
Well-documented data
Shilajit is generally well tolerated, though a small number of side effects have been reported. One person developed a severe allergic reaction (anaphylaxis) after taking a higher dose, and another rarely reported headache.
A case of high blood pressure was noted in someone who took shilajit during pregnancy, though whether shilajit caused it isn't clear. The safety data advises against shilajit during pregnancy and while breastfeeding.
Importantly, unpurified shilajit may contain heavy metals or other contaminants — only use purified, tested brands like this one.
Meds to double-check
Moderate interaction found
Antidiabetes drugs are the main concern — shilajit can enhance their glucose-lowering effect and increase your risk of low blood sugar. If you take metformin, glibenclamide, insulin, or any other diabetes medication, check with your pharmacist before starting this product.
The bottom line
Scorecard at a glanceFully disclosed formula marketed for general wellness rather than one specific gradeable purpose. Moderate medication interactions have been identified, and safety information is well characterized.
This single-ingredient shilajit powder is an option if you're interested in traditional mineral supplementation, but evidence for its claimed benefits hasn't been established yet. If you take diabetes medication, talk with your pharmacist first — shilajit can lower blood sugar.
Avoid it if you're pregnant or breastfeeding.

Antidiabetes Drugs
Taking shilajit with antidiabetes drugs might increase the risk of hypoglycemia.
Most human and animal research shows that shilajit can decrease fasting plasma glucose levels. In an animal model, shilajit 100 mg per kg daily enhanced the glucose-lowering ability of both glibenclamide and metformin when given in combination over a 4 week period. Monitor blood glucose levels closely. Dose adjustments might be necessary.
