HLC Intensive Powder Ingredients & Drug Interactions
by Pharmax
What is this page for?
First and foremost: checking HLC Intensive Powder against your medications. The heart of this page is the interaction checker and the full interaction report — how this product’s ingredients may interact with prescription and over-the-counter medicines you may be taking.
Around that, we add a pharmacist’s high-level view of the product as a whole — what’s inside, the evidence for its stated use, how transparent the label is, and what safety data exists — so you can see the full picture in one place. It’s educational information from our licensed clinical databases and the clinical staff at HelloPharmacist — not medical advice — and we don’t sell or endorse products. Our editorial policy

HelloPharmacist Scorecard of HLC Intensive Powder by Pharmax
Our pharmacy team’s full take, with four database checks built into the cards below — a summary of what is known, not a grade of the product itself.
What’s inside
Low disclosure
HLC Intensive Powder contains four active probiotic strains: Bifidobacterium animalis subsp. lactis (CUL 34), Lactobacillus acidophilus (CUL-60 and CUL-21), and Bifidobacterium bifidum (CUL-20). These are live beneficial bacteria meant to support digestive and immune health.
The powder also contains maltodextrin as an inactive ingredient to keep the cultures stable.
Does it work?
Moderate evidence
The evidence for this product's strains is mixed. The Bifidobacterium animalis and Lactobacillus acidophilus strains are possibly effective for irritable bowel syndrome (IBS), respiratory tract infections, and antibiotic-associated diarrhea.
Lactobacillus acidophilus is also possibly effective for Helicobacter pylori infection and bacterial vaginosis. Bifidobacterium bifidum is possibly effective for IBS and respiratory tract infections.
For other conditions like allergic rhinitis, anxiety, and Alzheimer's disease, the evidence isn't established in our data.
How safe is it?
Well-documented data
These probiotics are generally well tolerated by most healthy adults and children. The most common side effect is diarrhea; some people also report bloating, flatulence, abdominal pain, or stomach discomfort, though these are uncommon.
Rare cases of rash have been reported in clinical trials with probiotic combinations, though it's unclear if the probiotics caused them. There's a theoretical concern that probiotics might cause infection in people with severely weakened immune systems, so check with your doctor first if that applies to you.
For pregnancy, Lactobacillus acidophilus and Bifidobacterium bifidum are rated possibly safe, but there isn't enough data on file for the Bifidobacterium animalis strain — talk with your doctor or pharmacist to decide what's right for you.
Meds to double-check
Moderate interaction found
Antibiotics are the key one. Since this powder contains live bacteria, antibiotics will kill them and reduce the probiotic's benefit.
Space your antibiotic and this powder several hours apart, and let your doctor or pharmacist know you're taking both so they can help you time it right.
The bottom line
Scorecard at a glanceFormula with limited ingredient disclosure with some supporting evidence for its stated purpose. Moderate medication interactions have been identified, and safety information is well characterized.
This is a multi-strain probiotic powder geared toward people with IBS, digestive upset, or immune support — it's generally well tolerated, but the main thing to watch is timing with antibiotics. If you take any prescription medications, especially antibiotics, confirm the dosing schedule with your own doctor or pharmacist before you start.
