iFlora Multi-Probiotic Kids Ingredients & Drug Interactions
What is this page for?
First and foremost: checking iFlora Multi-Probiotic Kids against your medications. The heart of this page is the interaction checker and the full interaction report — how this product’s ingredients may interact with prescription and over-the-counter medicines you may be taking.
Around that, we add a pharmacist’s high-level view of the product as a whole — what’s inside, the evidence for its stated use, how transparent the label is, and what safety data exists — so you can see the full picture in one place. It’s educational information from our licensed clinical databases and the clinical staff at HelloPharmacist — not medical advice — and we don’t sell or endorse products. Our editorial policy

HelloPharmacist Scorecard of iFlora Multi-Probiotic Kids by Douglas Laboratories
Our pharmacy team’s full take, with four database checks built into the cards below — a summary of what is known, not a grade of the product itself.
What’s inside
Low disclosure
iFlora Multi-Probiotic Kids is a powder containing 8 active ingredients: four species of Lactobacillus and Bifidobacterium bacteria (Lactobacillus paracasei, Bifidobacterium animalis lactis, Bifidobacterium bifidum, Lactobacillus acidophilus, Lactobacillus rhamnosus, Bifidobacterium longum BB536, and Bifidobacterium lactis), plus a proprietary synbiotic blend and Short Chain Fructooligosaccharide (a type of prebiotic fiber that feeds beneficial bacteria). The product also contains pregelatinized starch as an inactive ingredient.
Does it work?
Moderate evidence
The evidence for this product's probiotic ingredients is mixed. Lactobacillus acidophilus is possibly effective for irritable bowel syndrome, H. pylori infection, antibiotic-associated diarrhea, and bacterial vaginosis.
Bifidobacterium bifidum is possibly effective for irritable bowel syndrome and respiratory tract infections. Bifidobacterium longum has insufficient evidence to rate for the conditions studied (age-related cognitive decline, hay fever, antibiotic-associated diarrhea, anxiety, asthma, and athletic performance).
For many other claimed uses, the evidence simply isn't established in our data.
How safe is it?
Well-documented data
These probiotics are generally well tolerated in healthy children, though live-organism products do carry some caution. Gastrointestinal side effects—bloating, flatulence, abdominal discomfort, diarrhea, and burping—have been reported with probiotic use, though they're uncommon.
One case of vomiting and fever was reported in a child taking a combination that included B. bifidum and L. acidophilus, but it's unclear whether the probiotics caused it. Rare cases of bacterial infection (bacteremia or sepsis) have been documented in critically ill or immune-compromised patients, but these are uncommon.
Children with weakened immune systems should use this product only under medical guidance. For pregnancy and breastfeeding safety in your child (or if you're considering it for yourself), the data we hold shows the individual Lactobacillus and Bifidobacterium species are possibly safe in pregnancy, though data on lactation are limited.
Meds to double-check
Moderate interaction found
Before giving this product to your child, double-check any antibiotic medications with your doctor or pharmacist. The live bacteria in iFlora may be less effective if taken at the same time as antibiotics—spacing the doses apart is usually the solution.
The bottom line
Scorecard at a glanceFormula with limited ingredient disclosure with some supporting evidence for its stated purpose. Moderate medication interactions have been identified, and safety information is well characterized.
iFlora Multi-Probiotic Kids may be worth considering if your child has irritable bowel syndrome or antibiotic-associated diarrhea, since a couple of the probiotics show possibly effective evidence for those. Kids with healthy immune systems generally tolerate it well, though minor gas or bloating can happen.
If your child takes antibiotics, talk with your doctor or pharmacist about timing—you'll need to space out doses. Children who are seriously ill or immune-compromised should check with their doctor first.
