Not established
The evidence for what this powder actually does is thin across the board. Maitake, himematsutake, and reishi all carry ratings of insufficient reliable evidence for their commonly promoted uses — hay fever, cancer support, bone health, heart health, and fatigue among them.
Reishi is rated possibly ineffective for high cholesterol. None of these ingredients have strong clinical proof of benefit for the conditions typically mentioned on supplement labels.
How safe is it?
Well-documented data
All three mushrooms we have data for are generally well tolerated when taken orally. The most common side effects are mild stomach issues — diarrhea, nausea, and abdominal discomfort — seen in a small number of trial participants.
Reishi may also cause dizziness, dry mouth, itching, or rash. Rarely, agaricus has been linked to serious liver damage in a handful of reported cases, and allergic reactions (rash, itching) have occurred with both agaricus and reishi.
Long-term safety hasn't been well studied for any of these mushrooms as concentrated supplements. Do not use this product during pregnancy or while breastfeeding — there isn't enough safety data to know either way.

Before taking this product, double-check if you're on blood thinners (anticoagulants) like warfarin — maitake and reishi may increase bleeding risk. If you take diabetes medications, confirm with your pharmacist, as both maitake and himematsutake may lower blood sugar further.
Also flag any blood pressure medications you're taking; maitake and reishi can lower blood pressure. Turkey Tail and the other components of the Immune Mushroom Blend cannot be checked against your medications because we hold no interaction data for them.

The most serious documented interaction is with blood thinners (anticoagulants): reishi and maitake may increase bleeding risk, and maitake specifically has a case report of elevated blood-thinning effect with warfarin. Altogether, these interactions span 375 individual medications.

Maitake and himematsutake can both lower blood sugar and may increase the risk of low blood sugar (hypoglycemia) when combined with diabetes medications. Maitake and reishi may also lower blood pressure; combined with blood pressure medications, they could increase the risk of excessively low blood pressure.
Reishi at higher doses may also thin the blood slightly, adding to the concern with anticoagulants.

Reishi, Powder
Anticoagulant/Antiplatelet Drugs
Theoretically, high doses of reishi mushroom might increase the risk of bleeding.
A dose of 1.5 grams daily of reishi mushroom does not seem to decrease platelet aggregation, but a higher dose of 3 grams daily does.
Antidiabetes Drugs
Theoretically, reishi mushroom might have additive effects with antidiabetes drugs.
Animal research suggests that reishi mushroom decreases blood sugar. However, in patients with type 2 diabetes, taking reishi mushroom does not reduce fasting glucose levels, and its effects on glycated hemoglobin are inconsistent.
Antihypertensive Drugs
Theoretically, concurrent use of reishi mushroom with antihypertensive drugs might increase the risk of hypotension.
Reishi mushroom has shown hypotensive activity in animal research. Clinical evidence suggests that reishi mushroom reduces blood pressure in some, but not all, patients with hypertension.
Maitake, Powder
Antidiabetes Drugs
Theoretically, combining maitake mushroom with antidiabetes drugs might increase the risk of hypoglycemia.
Clinical research shows that taking maitake mushroom polysaccharide (MMP) can lower blood glucose levels in patients with types 2 diabetes.
Antihypertensive Drugs
Theoretically, combining maitake mushroom with antihypertensive drugs might increase the risk of hypotension.
Animal research shows that maitake mushroom can lower blood pressure.
Warfarin (Coumadin)
There is limited evidence that maitake mushroom may increase the anticoagulant effects of warfarin.
In a case report, a patient previously stabilized on warfarin developed an elevated international normalized ratio (INR) of 5.1 after taking maitake mushroom (Grifron-Pro Maitake D-Fraction) 1 drop/kg daily in three divided doses for one week. The elevated INR resolved after holding warfarin for two days, then reducing the dose by 11%. It is thought that the beta-glucan constituent of maitake mushroom might cause warfarin dissociation from proteins, resulting in increased free warfarin levels and increased warfarin effects.
Himematsutake, Powder
Antidiabetes Drugs
Theoretically, taking agaricus mushroom with antidiabetes drugs might increase the risk of hypoglycemia.
In one clinical study in patients with type 2 diabetes who are stabilized on conventional oral hypoglycemic agents, 3 of 29 patients taking an agaricus mushroom extract 500 mg three times daily for 12 weeks reported hypoglycemia, compared to one of 29 patients in the placebo group.
