What is this page for?
First and foremost: checking Ionic Chromium against your medications. The heart of this page is the interaction checker and the full interaction report — how this product’s ingredients may interact with prescription and over-the-counter medicines you may be taking.
Around that, we add a pharmacist’s high-level view of the product as a whole — what’s inside, the evidence for its stated use, how transparent the label is, and what safety data exists — so you can see the full picture in one place. It’s educational information from our licensed clinical databases and the clinical staff at HelloPharmacist — not medical advice — and we don’t sell or endorse products. Our editorial policy

Our pharmacy team’s full take, with four database checks built into the cards below — a summary of what is known, not a grade of the product itself.
What’s inside
Full disclosure
This product contains one active ingredient: chromium in liquid ionic form. Chromium is a mineral that plays a role in how your body manages blood sugar and uses nutrients.
The liquid also includes inactive ingredients—water, fulvic acid, and sorbic acid (a preservative)—that serve as the base.
Does it work?
Strong evidence
Chromium is likely effective for chromium deficiency, which is rare in people eating a varied diet. For type 2 diabetes, the evidence suggests it's possibly effective—some research shows it may help lower blood glucose, especially in people whose diabetes is not well controlled.
For prediabetes, schizophrenia, and high blood pressure, the evidence we have rates chromium as possibly ineffective for these uses.
How safe is it?
Well-documented data
Chromium is generally well tolerated at typical supplement doses. The most common side effects are mild—gastrointestinal upset, headaches, insomnia, and mood changes.
Rare serious effects like kidney or liver damage and blood cell problems have been reported, though they're uncommon. For pregnancy and breastfeeding: small amounts from food or a prenatal vitamin are considered likely safe, but extra supplement doses should be avoided unless your doctor advises otherwise.
The safety data on higher doses is limited, so talk with your doctor or pharmacist before taking this if you're pregnant, planning to become pregnant, or breastfeeding.
Meds to double-check
Moderate interaction found
Before taking this product, double-check with your doctor or pharmacist if you take insulin or antidiabetes drugs (moderate risk of low blood sugar), levothyroxine or other thyroid medication (moderate risk of decreased absorption), NSAIDs, or aspirin (minor risk of increased chromium levels). These interactions may require dose adjustments or timing changes.
The bottom line
Scorecard at a glanceFully disclosed formula with clinical evidence supporting its stated purpose. Moderate medication interactions have been identified, and safety information is well characterized.
Ionic Chromium may help if you have a chromium deficiency or type 2 diabetes that isn't well controlled, though the evidence for diabetes is modest. If you take insulin, diabetes medication, thyroid medication (levothyroxine), NSAIDs, or aspirin, check with your doctor or pharmacist before starting—chromium can change how these work.
Talk it over with your own healthcare provider to see if it's right for you.

Ionic Chromium by Good State Drug Interactions
HelloPharmacist Interaction Report
Ionic Chromium by Good State interacts with several medication types.
The most serious concern is with insulin and antidiabetes drugs—chromium may increase your body's sensitivity to these medications and raise the risk of low blood sugar (hypoglycemia). If you take insulin or diabetes medication, your blood sugar levels need monitoring, and your doses may need adjustment.
Read the full breakdown — every affected drug type, severity by severity
Chromium can also interfere with how your body absorbs levothyroxine (a thyroid medication)—research shows it may lower levothyroxine levels by around 17%. If you take thyroid medication, separate doses by several hours.
Nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs) and aspirin may increase how much chromium your body absorbs, though the clinical significance isn't fully clear.
Altogether, these interactions span 178 individual medications. Use the medication checker below to look up your exact drugs before starting this product.

For each ingredient in Ionic Chromium with known interactions, here are the types of medications it can affect. Open any type for the detail — or search your exact drug in the checker above.
Chromium
Antidiabetes Drugs
Theoretically, chromium may have additive effects with antidiabetic agents and increase the risk of hypoglycemia.
Some research shows that taking chromium might lower blood glucose levels, especially in patients with poorly controlled type 2 diabetes.
Insulin
Theoretically, concomitant use of chromium and insulin might increase the risk of hypoglycemia.
In clinical research, chromium has been shown to increase insulin sensitivity,
Levothyroxine (Synthroid, Others)
Chromium might bind levothyroxine in the intestinal tract and decrease levothyroxine absorption.
Clinical research in healthy volunteers shows that taking chromium picolinate 1000 mcg with levothyroxine 1 mg decreases serum levels of levothyroxine by 17% when compared to taking levothyroxine alone. Advise patients to take levothyroxine at least 30 minutes before or 3-4 hours after taking chromium.
Aspirin
Theoretically, aspirin might increase chromium absorption.
Animal research suggests that aspirin may increase chromium absorption and chromium levels in the blood.
Nonsteroidal Anti-Inflammatory Drugs (Nsaids)
NSAIDs might increase chromium levels in the body.
Drugs that are prostaglandin inhibitors, such as NSAIDs, seem to increase chromium absorption and retention.
