Our pharmacy team’s full take, with four database checks built into the cards below — a summary of what is known, not a grade of the product itself.
What’s inside
Full disclosure
This product contains one active ingredient: English Ivy Leaf Extract at 50 mg per dose. The extract is made from the leaf of the English ivy plant and is standardized to provide consistent amounts of the plant's active compounds.
The tablet also contains several inactive ingredients — cellulose, sodium croscarmellose, stearic acid, magnesium stearate, hypromellose, silica, glycerin, and carnauba wax — which are excipients (fillers and binders) that help hold the tablet together and aid absorption.
Does it work?
Not established
The evidence for English ivy leaf extract isn't established in our data. The product is marketed for respiratory conditions (bronchitis and respiratory tract infections), joint and muscle concerns (gout and spasticity), and nerve pain (neuropathic pain), but there's insufficient reliable evidence to rate how well it works for any of these uses.
If you're considering it for one of these purposes, talk with your pharmacist about what the current research actually shows.
How safe is it?
Well-documented data
The standardized leaf extract in this product is generally well tolerated. The most common side effects reported when taken by mouth are abdominal pain, diarrhea, nausea, and vomiting; skin irritation has also been reported.
It's important to know that raw English ivy plant material is toxic and can cause poisoning or severe skin reactions — but this product uses a standardized extract, which is much safer. During pregnancy, there isn't enough reliable safety information, so it's best avoided.
Safety while breastfeeding is unknown, so don't use it unless your doctor directs you to.
Meds to double-check
Moderate interaction found
Before you take English Ivy Extract, double-check any medications you're on that are processed by CYP2C19, CYP2D6, or CYP2C8 enzymes — a pharmacy checker tool or your pharmacist can tell you if yours are on that list. These interactions are theoretically Moderate in severity, meaning the extract could raise drug levels and potentially cause side effects or reduced effectiveness.
The bottom line
Scorecard at a glanceFully disclosed formula with no established evidence rating for its marketed use. Moderate medication interactions have been identified, and safety information is well characterized.
English ivy extract has potential interactions with a large number of medications through how your liver processes them — lab evidence is strong but human reports are absent. If you take any prescription drugs or certain over-the-counter medications, check with your pharmacist before starting this supplement.
Pregnant people and those breastfeeding should avoid it without medical direction.

Ivy Extract 50 mg by Nature's Way Drug Interactions
HelloPharmacist Interaction Report
English Ivy Leaf Extract by Nature's Way has documented interactions with multiple medications, all involving how your liver processes drugs.
The extract appears to inhibit three major enzyme systems (CYP2C19, CYP2D6, and CYP2C8) that break down a wide range of medications, which means it could theoretically raise the blood levels of drugs metabolized by these pathways. So far, these interactions haven't been reported in actual patients — the evidence comes from lab studies — but that doesn't mean they won't happen in real life.
Read the full breakdown — every affected drug type, severity by severity
Although we have interaction data for English ivy, we could not check the specific medications you take. Altogether, these interactions span 277 individual medications.
Your doctor or pharmacist will need to review your exact prescriptions before you start this supplement, since many common drugs — including certain antidepressants, heart medications, and pain relievers — are metabolized by these same enzyme systems.
