Our pharmacy team’s full take, with four database checks built into the cards below — a summary of what is known, not a grade of the product itself.
What’s inside
Low disclosure
This product contains 6 active ingredients: a proprietary probiotic blend that breaks down into L. acidophilus LA-02, L. rhamnosus LR-04, L. paracasei LPC-00, B. lactis BS-01, L. plantarum LP-01, and B. breve BR-03. Each capsule delivers 10 billion colony-forming units (CFU) — a measure of live, active probiotic cells.
The inactive ingredients are maltodextrin, sodium alginate, hydroxypropyl methylcellulose, water, calcium phosphate, magnesium stearate, silicon dioxide, and ascorbic acid; these are binders, fillers, and capsule materials.
Does it work?
Moderate evidence
For L. acidophilus, the evidence points to "possibly effective" for irritable bowel syndrome (IBS), Helicobacter pylori infection, antibiotic-associated diarrhea, and bacterial vaginosis; it's rated "possibly ineffective" for atopic disease, and evidence is insufficient to rate it for acute respiratory distress syndrome (ARDS). For B. breve, evidence is insufficient to rate it for allergic rhinitis and atopic disease; it's rated "possibly ineffective" for age-related cognitive decline and sepsis, and insufficient evidence exists for antibiotic-associated diarrhea.
The other strains in this blend have no effectiveness data on file.
How safe is it?
Well-documented data
L. acidophilus is generally well tolerated in healthy adults and children. Gastrointestinal side effects like bloating, gas, belly discomfort, and loose stool can happen when you take L. acidophilus with other probiotics, though these are uncommon.
B. breve is also generally well tolerated in healthy people, but caution is advised if you're very ill or immunocompromised; it has limited safety data, so check with your healthcare provider before use. Rare cases of bacterial bloodstream infections (bacteremia) linked to probiotic use have been reported, mostly in critically ill patients or very young infants.
In pregnancy, L. acidophilus is rated "possibly safe"; we hold no lactation data for it. For B. breve, pregnancy and lactation data are not on file.
Meds to double-check
Moderate interaction found
Check your antibiotics before you start this product. Antibiotics can kill the live probiotic organisms, making the supplement less effective.
Separate the two by a few hours — your own doctor or pharmacist can tell you the best timing for your specific antibiotic.
The bottom line
Scorecard at a glanceFormula with limited ingredient disclosure with some supporting evidence for its stated purpose. Moderate medication interactions have been identified, and safety information is well characterized.
This probiotic may be worth trying if you have irritable bowel syndrome, antibiotic-associated diarrhea, or bacterial vaginosis, though the evidence is not conclusive. The main thing to watch is timing: don't take it at the same time as an antibiotic — space them apart.
If you're very ill, immunocompromised, or thinking of using this during pregnancy or while breastfeeding, talk it over with your own doctor or pharmacist first.
