Our pharmacy team’s full take, with four database checks built into the cards below — a summary of what is known, not a grade of the product itself.
What’s inside
Full disclosure
Lavender Calm contains one active ingredient: lavender, a flowering plant traditionally used for relaxation and wellness support. The softgel capsule also contains several inactive ingredients—gelatin (capsule material), extra virgin olive oil, glycerin, calcium carbonate, and red iron oxide (a colorant)—that help deliver and stabilize the lavender.
Does it work?
Not established
The evidence for lavender is mixed and depends on what you're using it for. It's possibly effective for dysmenorrhea (period pain).
For cancer-related pain, the data suggests it's possibly ineffective. For alopecia areata (hair loss condition), pre-procedural anxiety, and cancer-related fatigue, we don't have enough reliable evidence to say whether it works.
Talk with your pharmacist or doctor about what you're hoping it will do—that'll help you figure out if lavender is the right choice for your situation.
How safe is it?
Well-documented data
Lavender in standard oral doses is generally well tolerated. The most common side effects are mild and include breath odor, constipation, diarrhea, indigestion, gas, headache, and nausea.
A small number of people develop allergic contact dermatitis with lavender oil on the skin. Very rarely, topical lavender oil has been linked to breast tissue enlargement in young boys, though this is uncommon.
That said, the safety data for lavender isn't extensive—we don't have complete long-term study data—so the product labeling advises using it only under your doctor's guidance and avoiding medicinal amounts without their approval.
Meds to double-check
Moderate interaction found
Before taking Lavender Calm, double-check any CNS depressants (sedatives, sleep aids, anxiety medications, prescription pain relievers, or muscle relaxants) with your pharmacist. Lavender may strengthen their effects and side effects.
Use the medication checker on this page with your exact prescriptions.
The bottom line
Scorecard at a glanceFully disclosed formula with no established evidence rating for its marketed use. Moderate medication interactions have been identified, and safety information is well characterized.
Lavender Calm is a single-ingredient softgel that's generally well tolerated at standard doses. It may help with period pain, though evidence for other uses is limited or unclear.
If you take any CNS depressants—sedatives, sleep aids, anxiety medications, or strong pain relievers—check with your pharmacist first; lavender could add to their drowsy or slowing effects. Always talk to your doctor or pharmacist before starting, especially if you have ongoing health concerns.

Cns Depressants
Theoretically, lavender might potentiate the therapeutic effects and adverse effects of CNS depressants.
Laboratory research suggests that lavender has sedative effects. However, clinical studies in patients taking oral lavender oil (Silexan) 160 mg for 10 weeks or taking lavender flower powder 1 gram daily for 2 months have not reported side effects of drowsiness, sedation, or sleepiness. There is still some concern that higher doses or different preparations of lavender might have additive effects with CNS depressant medications.
