Mood Improve Ingredients & Drug Interactions
What is this page for?
First and foremost: checking Mood Improve against your medications. The heart of this page is the interaction checker and the full interaction report — how this product’s ingredients may interact with prescription and over-the-counter medicines you may be taking.
Around that, we add a pharmacist’s high-level view of the product as a whole — what’s inside, the evidence for its stated use, how transparent the label is, and what safety data exists — so you can see the full picture in one place. HelloPharmacist Scorecard of Mood Improve by Life Extension Florassist
Our pharmacy team’s full take, with four database checks built into the cards below — a summary of what is known, not a grade of the product itself.
What’s inside
Low disclosure
Mood Improve contains three active ingredients: Lactobacillus helveticus Rosell-52 and Bifidobacterium longum Rosell-175, which are beneficial bacteria (probiotics), plus saffron stigma extract. The probiotics are meant to support gut health, while saffron is traditionally used for mood and cognitive support.
The product also contains inactive ingredients — potato starch, vegetable oil powder, microcrystalline cellulose, maltodextrin, cellulose, vegetable stearate, and ascorbic acid — which are fillers and binders that help form and preserve the capsule.
Does it work?
Not established
The evidence on these ingredients is mixed and limited. For the two probiotic strains, the data we hold shows insufficient evidence to reliably rate their effectiveness for hay fever, antibiotic-associated diarrhea, cognitive function, depression, rotavirus diarrhea, or exercise-related respiratory infections.
Saffron extract is possibly effective for chemotherapy-related nerve damage (chemotherapy-induced peripheral neuropathy) and Alzheimer disease, but the probiotics' role in mood specifically hasn't been established in our data. If you're looking for support with a specific condition, check with your pharmacist or doctor about what the evidence actually shows for your situation.
How safe is it?
Well-documented data
The two probiotics are generally well tolerated in healthy people, but caution is advised if you're seriously ill or have a weakened immune system — there's a rare risk that the live organisms could cause infection in those populations. Limited safety data exist overall; use only with your doctor's guidance.
Saffron is likely safe in food amounts, but supplement doses carry more caution. High doses can be toxic.
Rare gastrointestinal side effects reported with the probiotics include abdominal discomfort, bloating, flatulence, constipation, and one case of dry cough. Saffron most commonly causes gastrointestinal complaints, nausea, sedation, and vomiting; anaphylaxis is rare but has been reported.
Saffron has also been linked to anxiety and agitation at higher doses. No pregnancy and lactation data are on file for Lactobacillus helveticus or saffron; Bifidobacterium longum is rated possibly safe in pregnancy and lactation, but limited data exist — talk with your doctor before use during either.
Meds to double-check
Moderate interaction found
Before you take this, check any antibiotic drugs you're on — the probiotics need to be timed apart from them. Also double-check if you use CNS depressants (sedatives, sleep aids), blood pressure medications, blood sugar medications, or caffeine regularly, as saffron can interact with all of these.
The most serious concern is adding to sedation from CNS depressants.

Mood Improve by Life Extension Florassist Drug Interactions
HelloPharmacist Interaction Report
Mood Improve by Life Extension Florassist contains three active ingredients, two of which are probiotics and one is saffron extract.
The product has documented interactions with several medication types, with the most serious concern involving saffron and CNS depressants (sedatives, sleep aids, and similar drugs) — saffron can add to their drowsy effects.
Read the full breakdown — every affected drug type, severity by severity
The two probiotic strains — Lactobacillus helveticus and Bifidobacterium longum — both interact with antibiotic drugs. Since these probiotics contain live organisms, taking antibiotics at the same time may kill many of them and reduce their effectiveness.
You'll want to space them apart; ask your pharmacist for the right timing.
Saffron extract also interacts with blood pressure medications (antihypertensive drugs), blood sugar medications (antidiabetes drugs), and caffeine. It can add to the blood-pressure-lowering effect of your medications and may increase the risk of low blood sugar (hypoglycemia) if you're on diabetes drugs.
It may also slow how your body clears caffeine. Altogether, these interactions span 700 individual medications.
Please use the medication checker below to look up your exact prescriptions and over-the-counter drugs before starting this product.

Saffron Stigma Extract
Antidiabetes Drugs
Theoretically, concomitant use of saffron with antidiabetes drugs might increase the risk of hypoglycemia.
Some clinical research shows that taking saffron extract reduces fasting levels of glucose when used in addition to hypoglycemic agents. However, saffron powder itself has not been shown to reduce fasting glucose levels.
Antihypertensive Drugs
Theoretically, concomitant use of saffron with antihypertensive drugs might have additive effects.
Animal and human research suggests that saffron extract can decrease blood pressure.
Caffeine
Theoretically, saffron might inhibit the metabolism of caffeine.
A small clinical study suggests that taking saffron powder 300 mg in 150 mL water daily for 5 days and then taking caffeine 200 mg seems to reduce caffeine metabolite levels in the saliva and urine in males, but not females. Theoretically, this may be due to the inhibition of cytochrome P450 1A2 by saffron.
Cns Depressants
Theoretically, concomitant use of saffron and CNS depressants might have additive sedative effects.
Clinical research shows that taking saffron extract 60 mg orally daily for 26 weeks can cause drowsiness and sedation. Animal research suggests that adding saffron to hexobarbital further increases sleeping and slows motor activity.
Lactobacillus helveticus Rosell-52
Antibiotic Drugs
Theoretically, taking Lactobacillus helveticus with antibiotic drugs might decrease the effectiveness of L. helveticus.
Lactobacillus helveticus preparations usually contain live and active organisms. Therefore, simultaneously taking antibiotics might kill a significant number of the organisms. Tell patients to separate administration of antibiotics and L. helveticus preparations by at least two hours.
Bifidobacterium longum Rosell-175
Antibiotic Drugs
Theoretically, taking Bifidobacterium longum with antibiotic drugs might decrease the effectiveness of B. longum.
Since B. longum preparations usually contain live and active organisms, simultaneously taking antibiotics might kill a significant number of the organisms. Tell patients to separate administration of antibiotics and B. longum preparations by at least 2 hours.
