Saffron + Albiglutide
Albiglutide brand name: Tanzeum.
Saffron has a moderate interaction with Albiglutide. Theoretically, concomitant use of saffron with antidiabetes drugs might increase the risk of hypoglycemia.

Here is the interaction we found between these two, with the evidence behind it.
ANTIDIABETES DRUGS
Why this applies to Albiglutide
Albiglutide falls under ANTIDIABETES DRUGS — the group Saffron interacts with.
Some clinical research shows that taking saffron extract reduces fasting levels of glucose when used in addition to hypoglycemic agents. However, saffron powder itself has not been shown to reduce fasting glucose levels.
Interaction has been documented in animal or in lab research, or the interaction has been documented in humans but is limited to case reports or conflicting clinical research exists.
Here's the gist for saffron alongside albiglutide (Tanzeum): both can nudge your blood sugar in the same direction, downward. Some early research suggests concentrated saffron extract may lower fasting glucose a bit, so stacking it on top of a diabetes medicine could, in theory, push your sugar lower than intended. This is moderate, possible, and based on lower-quality studies, so I wouldn't lose sleep over it, but it's worth knowing.
If your levels do drop too far, watch for signs of low blood sugar: shakiness, sweating, dizziness, hunger, or feeling confused. The amount of saffron in cooking is unlikely to matter. A daily supplement is a different story. Please check with your pharmacist or doctor before adding it, and keep monitoring your sugars as usual.

From our pharmacist’s overview on the Albiglutide page
“People injecting albiglutide (Tanzeum) once a week for type 2 diabetes are often the same people eyeing supplements marketed for blood sugar, and that overlap is exactly where this list calls for real vigilance. Every one of the 239 ingredients on file touches glucose control in some way, most by adding to albiglutide's glucose-lowerin…”

About Saffron
What is Saffron?
- Depression and low mood
- Anxiety
- PMS symptoms
- Memory and cognition
- Eye health (age-related macular degeneration)
Saffron is a costly spice that has shown promise in early studies for mild-to-moderate depression and some mood and PMS symptoms, but most research uses small trials, so results are not definitive. It is generally well tolerated in food and small supplement amounts, but high doses can be harmful and it should be avoided in pregnancy. Talk to your pharmacist or doctor before using saffron supplements.

Albiglutide Is Linked to Lower Levels of One Nutrient
Natural Medicines records Albiglutide as a medicine that can lower these. This is not an interaction with Saffron — it is a separate effect of the medicine, and it is a reason some people are advised to supplement rather than to avoid one:
