Here is the interaction we found between these two, with the evidence behind it.
ANTIHYPERTENSIVE DRUGS
Why this applies to Lisinopril
Lisinopril falls under ANTIHYPERTENSIVE DRUGS — the group Saffron interacts with.
Animal and human research suggests that saffron extract can decrease blood pressure.
Interaction has been documented in animal or in lab research, or the interaction has been documented in humans but is limited to case reports or conflicting clinical research exists.
Here's the simple version: saffron may gently lower blood pressure on its own. Since lisinopril is already working to bring your numbers down, taking the two together could add up and push your blood pressure lower than intended. This isn't about saffron blocking or speeding up how your body clears the drug. It's just two things nudging in the same direction.
If your pressure drops too far, you might feel dizzy, lightheaded, tired, or unsteady when you stand up quickly. Honestly, the evidence here is thin, mostly lab and animal work, so a sprinkle of saffron in your cooking is very unlikely to matter. Concentrated supplement doses are where I'd pay closer attention. Please check with your pharmacist or doctor before adding a saffron supplement.

About Saffron
What is Saffron?
- Depression and low mood
- Anxiety
- PMS symptoms
- Memory and cognition
- Eye health (age-related macular degeneration)
Saffron is a costly spice that has shown promise in early studies for mild-to-moderate depression and some mood and PMS symptoms, but most research uses small trials, so results are not definitive. It is generally well tolerated in food and small supplement amounts, but high doses can be harmful and it should be avoided in pregnancy. Talk to your pharmacist or doctor before using saffron supplements.
About Lisinopril
What Is Lisinopril Used For?
Brand names: Zestril, Prinivil, Qbrelis
Lisinopril treats high blood pressure (hypertension) in adults and children 6 years and older, and can be used alone or alongside other blood pressure medicines. Lowering blood pressure reduces the risk of strokes and heart attacks. The tablet combination product containing lisinopril and hydrochlorothiazide is specifically indicated for high blood pressure.
Lisinopril is also used as an add-on therapy to reduce signs and symptoms of systolic heart failure, and to reduce the risk of death in people who are hemodynamically stable (have reasonably stable circulation) within 24 hours of an acute heart attack (acute myocardial infarction).

Lisinopril Is Linked to Lower Levels of One Nutrient
Natural Medicines records Lisinopril as a medicine that can lower these. This is not an interaction with Saffron — it is a separate effect of the medicine, and it is a reason some people are advised to supplement rather than to avoid one:
