Natura 301 Ingredients & Drug Interactions
What is this page for?
First and foremost: checking Natura 301 against your medications. The heart of this page is the interaction checker and the full interaction report — how this product’s ingredients may interact with prescription and over-the-counter medicines you may be taking.
Around that, we add a pharmacist’s high-level view of the product as a whole — what’s inside, the evidence for its stated use, how transparent the label is, and what safety data exists — so you can see the full picture in one place. It’s educational information from our licensed clinical databases and the clinical staff at HelloPharmacist — not medical advice — and we don’t sell or endorse products. Our editorial policy

Our pharmacy team’s full take, with four database checks built into the cards below — a summary of what is known, not a grade of the product itself.
What’s inside
Low disclosure
Natura 301 contains 9 ingredients total, most in a proprietary blend. The named active ingredients include poria mushroom (Fu Ling), horny goat weed (Yin Yang Huo), ba ji tian (Ba Ji), and lychee seed (Li Zhi He), along with five traditional Chinese herbs we could not evaluate: Lu Xian Cao, Nu Zhen Zi, Huang Jing, Bai Jiang Cao, and Shi Wei.
The capsule also contains vegetable cellulose as an inactive ingredient.
Does it work?
Moderate evidence
The evidence for Natura 301's ingredients is limited. Poria mushroom has insufficient evidence for cancer, chronic fatigue, dementia, diabetes, kidney disease from diabetes, or diarrhea.
Horny goat weed similarly lacks reliable evidence for bronchitis, sexual function, osteoporosis, or heart disease. Ba ji tian is rated possibly effective for depression, though human data are sparse.
The other ingredients — Lu Xian Cao, Nu Zhen Zi, Huang Jing, Bai Jiang Cao, Shi Wei, and lychee seed — have no effectiveness ratings in our data. Overall, this product lacks strong clinical evidence to support its use for any specific condition.
How safe is it?
Well-documented data
Poria mushroom and ba ji tian are generally well tolerated in traditional use, but human safety data are limited. Horny goat weed appears tolerated short-term, though quality varies between products.
The most common side effects from horny goat weed are dizziness, dry mouth, nosebleed, thirst, and vomiting; rarely, respiratory arrest has been reported, and one case of abnormal heart rhythm was noted after 2 weeks of use. Lychee can cause allergic reactions including hives, rash, tongue and lip swelling, shortness of breath, and rarely anaphylaxis.
Lychee has also been linked to a dangerous drop in blood sugar (hypoglycemic encephalopathy) in some children, particularly those who were malnourished. Regarding pregnancy: poria mushroom, ba ji tian, and horny goat weed all lack sufficient safety data and should be avoided during pregnancy and breastfeeding.
Lychee as food is likely fine, but concentrated extracts in pregnancy and breastfeeding are not well studied — talk with your doctor or pharmacist for personalized advice.
Meds to double-check
Moderate interaction found
Before taking Natura 301, check with your doctor or pharmacist if you take drugs metabolized by the liver enzyme CYP3A4 (a very common pathway), blood-pressure-lowering medications, blood thinners or antiplatelet drugs, hormone therapies, sedatives, diabetes medications, anticholinergic drugs, cholinergic drugs, or immunosuppressants. These interactions are mostly Moderate in severity and are based on laboratory or animal data that has not been confirmed in humans.
The bottom line
Scorecard at a glanceFormula with limited ingredient disclosure with some supporting evidence behind its ingredients' uses. Moderate medication interactions have been identified, and safety information is well characterized.
Natura 301 is a blend of traditional herbs with limited clinical evidence and a significant interaction profile affecting over 1,300 individual medications. If you take blood-pressure medications, blood thinners, hormone therapy, diabetes drugs, sedatives, or drugs metabolized by your liver's CYP enzymes, this product warrants a careful check before use.
Talk with your doctor or pharmacist about whether it's appropriate for you and to review your full medication list against it.

Natura 301 by AN American Nutriceuticals Drug Interactions
HelloPharmacist Interaction Report
Natura 301 by AN American Nutriceuticals contains several ingredients with documented interactions.
Through its poria mushroom, horny goat weed, ba ji tian, and lychee seed content, this product may interact with a range of medications. The most serious concern is horny goat weed's potential to increase effects and side effects of drugs metabolized by the liver enzyme CYP3A4 — a very common pathway affecting many medications.
Read the full breakdown — every affected drug type, severity by severity
Poria mushroom may enhance the effects of sedatives (CNS depressants) and theoretically could interfere with anticholinergic drugs or add to the effects of cholinergic drugs. Horny goat weed carries additional concerns: it may lower blood pressure when used with blood-pressure-lowering medications, boost estrogen levels if you take hormone therapies, and increase bleeding risk with blood thinners (anticoagulants) or antiplatelet drugs.
It may also slow how your liver clears drugs metabolized by CYP1A2 and CYP2B6 enzymes. Ba ji tian and lychee seed both interact with diabetes medications — they may lower blood sugar or interfere with how those drugs work.
Lychee seed may also reduce the effectiveness of immunosuppressants.
Several of the ingredients — Lu Xian Cao, Nu Zhen Zi, Huang Jing, Bai Jiang Cao, and Shi Wei — we could not check because we hold no data for them. Altogether, these interactions span 1,343 individual medications.
Use the medication checker on this page to search for your exact drugs before starting this product, and talk with your doctor or pharmacist about whether it's right for you.

In animal research, poria mushroom essential oil reduces acetylcholinesterase activity. This interaction has not been shown in humans.
Cns Depressants
Theoretically, taking poria mushroom extract may enhance the therapeutic and adverse effects of sedatives.
Animal research shows that poria mushroom extract has sedative properties. This interaction has not been shown in humans.
Li Zhi He
Antidiabetes Drugs
Theoretically, lychee seed might increase the risk of hypoglycemia when used with antidiabetes drugs.
Animal research suggests that an aqueous extract of lychee seed reduces fasting and 2-hour postprandial blood glucose and improves impaired glucose tolerance in rats with type 2 diabetes. Additionally, retrospective research in children has found an association between lychee consumption and increased odds of acute hypoglycemic encephalopathy.
Immunosuppressants
Theoretically, lychee might reduce the effectiveness of immunosuppressant drugs.
In vitro, flavonoids extracted from lychee show immunostimulant effects. So far, this effect has not been reported in humans.
Ba Ji
Antidiabetes Drugs
Animal research shows that taking ba ji tian extracts might increase or decrease blood glucose levels. Theoretically ba ji tian might have additive effects or attenuate the effects antidiabetes drugs. Monitor blood glucose levels closely; dose adjustments of antidiabetes drugs might be necessary. Some antidiabetes drugs include glimepiride (Amaryl), glyburide (DiaBeta, Glynase PresTab, Micronase), insulin, metformin (Glucophage), pioglitazone (Actos), rosiglitazone (Avandia), and others.
