What is this page for?
First and foremost: checking Organic Raspberry Leaf against your medications. The heart of this page is the interaction checker and the full interaction report — how this product’s ingredients may interact with prescription and over-the-counter medicines you may be taking.
Around that, we add a pharmacist’s high-level view of the product as a whole — what’s inside, the evidence for its stated use, how transparent the label is, and what safety data exists — so you can see the full picture in one place. HelloPharmacist Scorecard of Organic Raspberry Leaf by Ra Herbals
Our pharmacy team’s full take, with four database checks built into the cards below — a summary of what is known, not a grade of the product itself.
What’s inside
Low disclosure
This product contains one active ingredient: red raspberry leaf in liquid form, suspended in cane alcohol and distilled water. Red raspberry leaf is the dried leaf of the raspberry plant, traditionally used in herbal preparations.
Does it work?
Insufficient evidence
The evidence we hold doesn't establish that red raspberry leaf is effective for the conditions listed—aging skin, heart disease, respiratory infections, heart failure, or diabetes all carry a rating of insufficient reliable evidence to rate. That means the data aren't strong enough yet to say whether it works for these purposes.
How safe is it?
Well-documented data
Red raspberry leaf is generally well tolerated by most adults, though the overall safety evidence is limited. The most common side effects reported with oral use are diarrhea, gastrointestinal upset, and upper belly pain—but these don't typically occur at standard doses.
One occupational case of asthma-like symptoms (wheezing and shortness of breath) was reported from inhaling raspberry powder, though that's not relevant to drinking this liquid. For pregnancy, the safety data show conflicting ratings—some sources list it as likely safe, others as possibly safe, and one as likely unsafe.
The guidance isn't settled, so talk with your doctor or midwife before using it in pregnancy. For breastfeeding, there isn't enough reliable information to know either way; discuss it with your own healthcare provider if you're considering it while nursing.
Meds to double-check
Moderate interaction found
Before taking this product, double-check with your doctor or pharmacist if you're on blood thinners (anticoagulants or antiplatelet drugs) or insulin. Both carry documented Moderate-severity interactions with red raspberry leaf that could affect how these medications work or increase bleeding or low blood sugar risk.
Altogether, these interactions span 135 individual medications.
The bottom line
Scorecard at a glanceFormula with limited ingredient disclosure with insufficient evidence for its stated purpose. Moderate medication interactions have been identified, and safety information is well characterized.
Organic Raspberry Leaf may be worth considering if you're interested in herbal preparation, but the evidence for its effectiveness on aging skin, heart health, or other listed conditions isn't established in our data. If you take blood thinners or insulin, check with your doctor or pharmacist first—this product may interact with both.
It's generally well tolerated, though gastrointestinal upset can happen. Run it by your own healthcare provider before starting, especially if you're pregnant, breastfeeding, or on any medications.

Organic Raspberry Leaf by Ra Herbals Drug Interactions
HelloPharmacist Interaction Report
Organic Raspberry Leaf by Ra Herbals contains red raspberry, which interacts with blood thinners (anticoagulants/antiplatelet drugs) and insulin.
The most serious concern is a Moderate-severity interaction with blood thinners: red raspberry leaf may theoretically increase bleeding risk. Lab studies show the extract has antiplatelet activity and enhances the effect of the antiplatelet drug cangrelor, though this hasn't been reported in people yet.
Read the full breakdown — every affected drug type, severity by severity
Red raspberry leaf may also moderately interact with insulin. The concern is that it might lower blood glucose (blood sugar), potentially causing low blood sugar (hypoglycemia) in people being treated with insulin.
One case report described a patient with gestational diabetes who developed low blood sugar after drinking two servings of raspberry leaf tea daily for 3 days while on insulin.
Additionally, no interactions are documented for the other inactive ingredients in this formulation. Before you start this product, check your exact medications—especially any blood thinners or insulin—with your own doctor or pharmacist using the search tool on this page.

Raspberry
Anticoagulant/Antiplatelet Drugs
Theoretically, taking red raspberry leaf with anticoagulant/antiplatelet drugs might increase the risk of bleeding.
In vitro research suggests that red raspberry leaf extract has antiplatelet activity and enhances the in vitro effects of the antiplatelet medication cangrelor. This interaction has not been reported in humans.
Insulin
Red raspberry leaf might reduce glucose levels in patients being treated with insulin.
In one case report, a 38-year-old patient with gestational diabetes, whose blood glucose was being controlled with medical nutrition therapy and insulin, developed hypoglycemia after consuming two servings of raspberry leaf tea daily for 3 days beginning at 32 weeks' gestation. The patient required an insulin dose reduction. The hypoglycemia was considered to be probably related to use of red raspberry leaf tea.
