What’s inside
Full disclosure
This product contains one active ingredient: phosphatidylserine, a fatty compound found naturally in cell membranes throughout your body. The powder also includes soybeans as an inactive ingredient.
Does it work?
Moderate evidence
Phosphatidylserine is possibly effective for age-related cognitive decline and Alzheimer disease. For athletic performance, ADHD, general cognitive function, and dementia, the evidence we hold isn't strong enough to rate how well it works.
How safe is it?
Well-documented data
Phosphatidylserine is generally well tolerated in studies, though long-term safety isn't fully established. The most common side effects are flatulence, gastrointestinal upset, headache, insomnia, and nausea — especially at higher doses.
Insomnia is more likely at 600 mg, and stomach upset can occur at 200–300 mg per day. There isn't enough safety data to recommend this during pregnancy, so avoidance is advised.
Safety while breastfeeding is also unknown — talk with your doctor or pharmacist about whether it's right for you before starting.
Meds to double-check
Moderate interaction found
Check your exact medications before starting, especially anticholinergic drugs (used for muscle control, bladder issues, or certain nerve conditions) and cholinergic drugs (which boost nerve signals). Both carry Moderate interaction severity with phosphatidylserine.
The bottom line
Scorecard at a glanceFully disclosed formula with some supporting evidence behind its ingredients' uses. Moderate medication interactions have been identified, and safety information is well characterized.
Phosphatidylserine might help with age-related memory loss or Alzheimer disease, but the evidence for other cognitive uses is thin. If you take anticholinergic or cholinergic medications, check with your doctor or pharmacist before adding this — the interactions could affect how your drugs work.
