Phosphatidylserine Ingredients & Drug Interactions
What is this page for?
First and foremost: checking Phosphatidylserine against your medications. The heart of this page is the interaction checker and the full interaction report — how this product’s ingredients may interact with prescription and over-the-counter medicines you may be taking.
Around that, we add a pharmacist’s high-level view of the product as a whole — what’s inside, the evidence for its stated use, how transparent the label is, and what safety data exists — so you can see the full picture in one place. It’s educational information from our licensed clinical databases and the clinical staff at HelloPharmacist — not medical advice — and we don’t sell or endorse products. Our editorial policy

Our pharmacy team’s full take, with four database checks built into the cards below — a summary of what is known, not a grade of the product itself.
What’s inside
Full disclosure
This product contains one active ingredient: phosphatidylserine, a fat-like compound found naturally in your cell membranes. It's thought to support brain cell communication by influencing how acetylcholine (a key brain messenger) works in your nervous system.
The capsule itself is made up of several inactive ingredients — microcrystalline cellulose, hypromellose, dicalcium phosphate, silicon dioxide, calcium silicate, and stearic acid — which help hold the phosphatidylserine together and make it easy to swallow.
Does it work?
Moderate evidence
The evidence for phosphatidylserine is mixed. It's rated Possibly Effective for age-related cognitive decline and Alzheimer disease — meaning there's some promising research, but more study is needed to be sure.
For athletic performance, ADHD, general cognitive function, and dementia, the evidence we have is insufficient to rate it reliably. That doesn't mean it doesn't work; it means the data isn't strong enough yet to say either way.
How safe is it?
Well-documented data
Phosphatidylserine is generally well tolerated when taken by mouth. The most common side effects are flatulence, stomach upset, headache, insomnia (especially at higher doses around 600 mg), and nausea — though not everyone experiences them.
During pregnancy, there isn't enough safety information, so you should avoid it. The same goes for breastfeeding — safety data is unknown, so avoidance is recommended.
Long-term safety hasn't been fully established in studies, so we don't have a complete picture of what happens with years of use.
Meds to double-check
Moderate interaction found
Before taking this product, check with your doctor or pharmacist if you're on anticholinergic drugs (for bladder control, eye pressure, or related conditions) or cholinergic drugs (for muscle weakness or certain dementias). Phosphatidylserine may affect how well these work or intensify their effects.
The bottom line
Scorecard at a glanceFully disclosed formula with some supporting evidence for its stated purpose. Moderate medication interactions have been identified, and safety information is well characterized.
Phosphatidylserine may be worth considering if you're looking into support for age-related memory changes or early Alzheimer disease, though the evidence is modest. If you take anticholinergic or cholinergic medications, talk with your doctor or pharmacist before starting — those drug interactions need a closer look at your specific situation.
Pregnant or breastfeeding people should avoid it entirely.

Phosphatidylserine by Moss Nutrition Drug Interactions
HelloPharmacist Interaction Report
Phosphatidylserine by Moss Nutrition may interact with medications that work through acetylcholine pathways.
The most serious concern is with anticholinergic drugs (the kind used for overactive bladder, certain eye drops, and some neurological conditions) — phosphatidylserine could theoretically reduce how well they work.
Read the full breakdown — every affected drug type, severity by severity
Cholinergic drugs (medications that boost acetylcholine activity, used for conditions like myasthenia gravis or certain types of dementia) are also a Moderate concern. Phosphatidylserine might add to their effects, which could intensify side effects like muscle twitching, excess saliva, or stomach cramping.
Altogether, these interactions span 219 individual medications. Before you start phosphatidylserine, check your exact medications with the tool on this page — especially if you take anything for bladder control, eye pressure, muscle weakness, or memory.
