What is this page for?
First and foremost: checking Primavie Shilajit against your medications. The heart of this page is the interaction checker and the full interaction report — how this product’s ingredients may interact with prescription and over-the-counter medicines you may be taking.

What’s inside
Full disclosure
This product contains one active ingredient: PrimaVie shilajit, a purified extract. The capsule itself is made from vegetable material.
Shilajit is a mineral-rich substance traditionally used in Ayurvedic medicine, though what it actually does in the body isn't yet well established by rigorous research.
Does it work?
No specific claim
We don't have solid evidence that shilajit works for any of the conditions it's marketed for — including Alzheimer disease, sexual dysfunction, athletic performance, benign prostatic hyperplasia (enlarged prostate), or low bone mineral density (osteopenia). The data we hold rates all of these as having insufficient reliable evidence.
That doesn't mean it doesn't work; it means the research isn't there yet to confirm it does.
How safe is it?
Well-documented data
Shilajit is generally well tolerated, though a small number of side effects have been reported: one case of a severe allergic reaction (hives progressing to anaphylaxis) linked to a higher dose, and rare headaches in clinical trials. Because unpurified shilajit can contain heavy metals and contaminants, use only tested, purified brands like this one.
The safety data advises against shilajit in pregnancy and while breastfeeding — there isn't enough information to know it's safe, and contamination risk is a concern.
Meds to double-check
Moderate interaction found
If you take antidiabetes drugs — including metformin, glibenclamide, or any other medication to control blood sugar — check your exact medication with the tool on this page before starting shilajit. The risk is low blood sugar (hypoglycemia).
No other major medication interactions are documented for the ingredient we could check.
The bottom line
Scorecard at a glanceFully disclosed formula marketed for general wellness rather than one specific gradeable purpose. Moderate medication interactions have been identified, and safety information is well characterized.
If you're considering shilajit mainly for its traditional reputation, know that the evidence for any benefit isn't established yet. The biggest safety watch is if you take diabetes medication — your blood sugar could drop too low.
Pregnant or breastfeeding? Skip this one.

Primavie Shilajit by Antler Farms Drug Interactions
HelloPharmacist Interaction Report
Primavie Shilajit by Antler Farms can interact with antidiabetes drugs — the main concern here.
Shilajit appears to lower blood sugar on its own, and when combined with diabetes medications like metformin or glibenclamide, it may increase the risk of low blood sugar (hypoglycemia). This is a Moderate-severity interaction, so if you take any diabetes medication, you'll want to check your exact drug with the tool below before starting this.
Read the full breakdown — every affected drug type, severity by severity
We could only check one ingredient — shilajit itself — because this is a single-ingredient product. No interactions are documented in our data for the other drug types we track.
That said, the absence of documented interactions isn't a guarantee none exist.
Always run your specific medications through the interaction checker on this page before you begin.

Antidiabetes Drugs
Taking shilajit with antidiabetes drugs might increase the risk of hypoglycemia.
Most human and animal research shows that shilajit can decrease fasting plasma glucose levels. In an animal model, shilajit 100 mg per kg daily enhanced the glucose-lowering ability of both glibenclamide and metformin when given in combination over a 4 week period. Monitor blood glucose levels closely. Dose adjustments might be necessary.
