Pro BCAA Ingredients & Drug Interactions
What is this page for?
First and foremost: checking Pro BCAA against your medications. The heart of this page is the interaction checker and the full interaction report — how this product’s ingredients may interact with prescription and over-the-counter medicines you may be taking.
Around that, we add a pharmacist’s high-level view of the product as a whole — what’s inside, the evidence for its stated use, how transparent the label is, and what safety data exists — so you can see the full picture in one place. It’s educational information from our licensed clinical databases and the clinical staff at HelloPharmacist — not medical advice — and we don’t sell or endorse products. Our editorial policy

HelloPharmacist Scorecard of Pro BCAA by Ten Performance
Our pharmacy team’s full take, with four database checks built into the cards below — a summary of what is known, not a grade of the product itself.
What’s inside
Low disclosure
Pro BCAA contains 10 active and inactive ingredients. The three branched-chain amino acids (BCAAs)—L-leucine, L-isoleucine, and L-valine (instantized powders)—are the primary active ingredients; BCAAs are amino acids that support muscle protein synthesis and recovery.
The formula also contains sweeteners and flavor components, including stevia, Luo Han Guo, and a proprietary Luahana Sweetener Blend, plus red raspberry powder, aloe vera, shilajit, organic coconut sap, goji berry extract, and a proprietary Hydrocell Delivery blend. The product contains no inactive other ingredients beyond these listed actives and proprietary blends.
Does it work?
Insufficient evidence
The data we hold does not establish effectiveness for the BCAA formula itself. For the individual ingredients: stevia shows insufficient evidence for diabetes, hypertension, or obesity.
Red raspberry, aloe, shilajit, coconut, and goji berry all show insufficient evidence for their claimed uses in our data. Aloe vera does show possibly effective ratings for acne, psoriasis, burns, constipation, diabetes, and obesity, but the other ingredients lack established evidence in the monographs we hold.
How safe is it?
Well-documented data
Stevia is generally recognized as safe in typical food amounts; purified stevia supplements appear well tolerated, though whole-leaf or high-dose supplements lack robust safety data. Minor adverse effects include bloating, dizziness, headache, muscle pain, nausea, and numbness, most resolving after the first week; allergic reactions are rare.
Red raspberry is generally well tolerated, though safety evidence is limited; it may cause diarrhea, gastrointestinal upset, or epigastric pain at higher doses. Aloe vera gel is generally well tolerated topically, but oral aloe latex carries significant risks—abdominal pain, cramps, diarrhea, and with long-term misuse, serious effects including muscle weakness, arrhythmias, and severe potassium loss.
Shilajit should be purified and tested for contaminants; unpurified products may contain heavy metals. Rare cases of severe allergic reactions and anaphylaxis have been reported with shilajit.
Coconut is safe as food; allergic reactions ranging from hives to anaphylaxis can occur in hypersensitive individuals. Goji berry is generally safe as food but concentrated supplements have less safety data.
Meds to double-check
Major interaction found
Check with your pharmacist if you take warfarin or any blood thinner (goji and aloe pose Major and Moderate bleeding risk), digoxin or heart medications (aloe poses Major risk), lithium (stevia poses Moderate risk), diabetes or blood sugar medications (aloe, red raspberry, goji, shilajit, and coconut all pose Moderate or Minor risk), blood pressure medications (stevia and goji pose Minor or Moderate risk), or any medication metabolized by liver enzymes—goji inhibits multiple pathways that affect many common drugs.
The bottom line
Scorecard at a glanceFormula with limited ingredient disclosure with insufficient evidence for its stated purpose. Major medication interactions have been identified, and safety information is well characterized.
If you take warfarin, digoxin, lithium, blood pressure medications, or diabetes medications, talk to your pharmacist before starting Pro BCAA. The same applies if you take any blood thinner or blood sugar medication—the interactions are real and documented.
We could not check four of the amino acid ingredients, so your pharmacist can help weigh what we do and don't know. For most other people, the main ingredients appear generally well tolerated at typical doses.

Pro BCAA by Ten Performance Drug Interactions
HelloPharmacist Interaction Report
Pro BCAA by Ten Performance contains several ingredients with documented interactions with medications.
The most serious concern is goji berry extract, which has a Major interaction with warfarin (a blood thinner). Goji can increase warfarin's effects and raise bleeding risk through multiple enzyme pathways; at least five case reports document increased INR (a measure of blood thinning) in patients on stable warfarin who started goji products.
Read the full breakdown — every affected drug type, severity by severity
Aloe vera carries Major risk with digoxin (a heart medication), where overuse can deplete potassium and raise the risk of dangerous drug toxicity. Several ingredients interact with blood thinners and blood sugar medications.
Goji berry, red raspberry, and aloe all have Moderate interactions with anticoagulants or antiplatelet drugs and may increase bleeding risk. Aloe, red raspberry, goji, shilajit, and coconut all have interactions (Moderate or Minor) with antidiabetes drugs and may lower blood sugar further, raising hypoglycemia risk.
Stevia has Moderate interaction with lithium (a mood stabilizer used in bipolar disorder), where it may reduce lithium clearance and raise blood levels. Additionally, goji berry may inhibit several liver enzymes (CYP2C9, CYP2D6, CYP2C19, CYP3A4) and reduce metabolism of many common medications, with documented case reports involving flecainide (a heart rhythm drug).
Aloe also interacts with diuretics, stimulant laxatives, and liver enzymes; stevia and goji may interact with blood pressure medications.
We could not check interaction data for Luo Han Guo, L-Isoleucine, L-Leucine, and L-Valine. Altogether, these interactions span 1,117 individual medications.

For each ingredient in Pro BCAA with known interactions, here are the types of medications they can affect. Open any type for the detail — or search your exact drug in the checker above.
Goji Berry Extract
Warfarin (Coumadin)
Goji can increase the effects of warfarin and possibly increase the risk of bleeding.
There are at least 5 case reports of increased international normalized ratio (INR) in patients stabilized on warfarin who began drinking goji juice, concentrated goji tea, or goji wine. Goji may inhibit the metabolism of warfarin by cytochrome P450 2C9 (CYP2C9).
Antihypertensive Drugs
Theoretically, concomitant use of goji root bark, but not goji fruit, with antihypertensive drugs might have additive effects.
Animal and in vitro research suggest that goji root bark has hypotensive effects. However, goji fruit juice does not appear to reduce systolic or diastolic blood pressure in humans.
Cytochrome P450 2C19 (Cyp2C19) Substrates
Theoretically, goji berry might inhibit CYP2C19 and reduce metabolism of CYP2C19 substrates.
In vitro research shows that goji berry tincture and juice inhibit CYP2C19 enzymes. Concomitant use with goji may decrease metabolism and increase levels of CYP2C19 substrates. However, this has not been reported in humans.
Cytochrome P450 2C9 (Cyp2C9) Substrates
Theoretically, goji berry might inhibit CYP2C9 and reduce metabolism of CYP2C9 substrates.
In vitro research shows that goji berry tincture and juice inhibit CYP2C9 enzymes. Additionally, multiple case reports suggest that goji berry concentrated tea and juice inhibit the metabolism of warfarin, a CYP2C9 substrate. Concomitant use with goji may decrease metabolism and increase levels of CYP2C9 substrates.
Cytochrome P450 2D6 (Cyp2D6) Substrates
Theoretically, goji berry might inhibit CYP2D6 and reduce metabolism of CYP2D6 substrates.
In vitro research shows that goji berry juice inhibits CYP2D6 enzymes. Concomitant use with goji may decrease metabolism and increase levels of CYP2D6 substrates. However, this has not been reported in humans.
Cytochrome P450 3A4 (Cyp3A4) Substrates
Theoretically, goji berry might inhibit CYP3A4 and reduce metabolism of CYP3A4 substrates.
In vitro research shows that goji berry juice inhibits CYP3A4 enzymes. Concomitant use with goji may decrease metabolism and increase levels of CYP3A4 substrates. However, this has not been reported in humans.
Flecainide (Tambocor)
Theoretically, goji berry might increase the levels and clinical effects of flecainide.
In one case report, a 75-year-old patient stable on flecainide and warfarin presented to the emergency room with fainting and pleomorphic arrhythmia caused by flecainide toxicity. Flecainide toxicity was attributed to drinking 1-2 glasses of concentrated goji tea daily for 2 weeks. Theoretically, goji may have inhibited the cytochrome P450 2D6 (CYP2D6) metabolism of flecainide.
Antidiabetes Drugs
Theoretically, concomitant use of goji fruit polysaccharides or goji root bark with antidiabetes drugs might have additive effects.
Animal and in vitro research show that goji root bark and fruit polysaccharides might have hypoglycemic effects. However, clinical research has only shown that taking goji fruit polysaccharides with or without antidiabetes drugs modestly reduces postprandial glucose when compared with control, with no reports of hypoglycemia.
Aloe Vera
Digoxin (Lanoxin)
Theoretically, aloe latex might increase the risk of adverse effects when taken with cardiac glycosides.
Overuse of aloe latex can increase the risk of adverse effects from cardiac glycoside drugs, such as digoxin, due to potassium depletion. Overuse of aloe, along with cardiac glycoside drugs, can increase the risk of toxicity.
Anticoagulant/Antiplatelet Drugs
Theoretically, aloe gel might increase the risk of bleeding when taken with anticoagulant or antiplatelet drugs.
In vitro research shows that aloe gel can inhibit platelet aggregation. This inhibition was greater than that seen with celecoxib, but less than that seen with aspirin.
Antidiabetes Drugs
Aloe might increase the risk of hypoglycemia when taken with antidiabetes drugs.
Preliminary clinical research suggests aloe gel might lower blood glucose levels and have additive effects when used with antidiabetes drugs. Monitor blood glucose levels closely.
Diuretic Drugs
Theoretically, aloe latex might increase the risk of hypokalemia when taken with diuretic drugs.
Overuse of aloe latex might compound diuretic-induced potassium loss, increasing the risk of hypokalemia.
Stimulant Laxatives
Theoretically, aloe latex might increase the risk for fluid and electrolyte loss when taken with stimulant laxatives.
Due to cathartic laxative effects of aloe latex, concomitant use with other stimulant laxatives might compound fluid and electrolyte loss.
Warfarin (Coumadin)
Theoretically, aloe latex might increase the risk of bleeding when taken with warfarin.
Aloe latex has stimulant laxative effects. In some people aloe latex can cause diarrhea. Diarrhea can increase the effects of warfarin, increase international normalized ratio (INR), and increase the risk of bleeding. Advise patients who take warfarin not to take excessive amounts of aloe vera.
Cytochrome P450 1A2 (Cyp1A2) Substrates
Theoretically, aloe might decrease the levels and clinical effects of CYP1A2 substrates.
In vitro research shows that aloe extract induces CYP1A2 enzymes.
Stevia
Lithium
Theoretically, stevia might decrease clearance and increase levels of lithium.
Animal research suggests that stevia extracts might have diuretic activity. Theoretically, increased reabsorption of lithium along with sodium might reduce excretion and increase levels of lithium.
Antidiabetes Drugs
Theoretically, stevia might increase the risk for hypoglycemia when combined with antidiabetes drugs.
Preliminary clinical research in patients with type 2 diabetes suggests that taking a single dose of stevia extract 1000 mg reduces postprandial blood glucose levels when taken with a meal. However, other clinical research in patients with type 1 or type 2 diabetes suggests that taking stevioside 250 mg three times daily does not significantly affect blood glucose levels or glycated hemoglobin (HbA1C) after three months of treatment.
Antihypertensive Drugs
Theoretically, combining stevia or stevia constituents with antihypertensive agents might increase the risk of hypotension.
Stevia extract and stevioside might lower blood pressure in patients with hypertension. However, other clinical research suggests that stevioside does not significantly lower blood pressure in patients with hypertension.
Red Raspberry powder
Anticoagulant/Antiplatelet Drugs
Theoretically, taking red raspberry leaf with anticoagulant/antiplatelet drugs might increase the risk of bleeding.
In vitro research suggests that red raspberry leaf extract has antiplatelet activity and enhances the in vitro effects of the antiplatelet medication cangrelor. This interaction has not been reported in humans.
Insulin
Red raspberry leaf might reduce glucose levels in patients being treated with insulin.
In one case report, a 38-year-old patient with gestational diabetes, whose blood glucose was being controlled with medical nutrition therapy and insulin, developed hypoglycemia after consuming two servings of raspberry leaf tea daily for 3 days beginning at 32 weeks' gestation. The patient required an insulin dose reduction. The hypoglycemia was considered to be probably related to use of red raspberry leaf tea.
organic Coconut sap
Antidiabetes Drugs
Theoretically, taking coconut with antidiabetes drugs might increase the risk of hypoglycemia.
Animal research suggests that coconut milk might increase insulin levels and/or decrease blood glucose levels.
Shilajit
Antidiabetes Drugs
Taking shilajit with antidiabetes drugs might increase the risk of hypoglycemia.
Most human and animal research shows that shilajit can decrease fasting plasma glucose levels. In an animal model, shilajit 100 mg per kg daily enhanced the glucose-lowering ability of both glibenclamide and metformin when given in combination over a 4 week period. Monitor blood glucose levels closely. Dose adjustments might be necessary.
