Probiotic Colon Support Ingredients & Drug Interactions
What is this page for?
First and foremost: checking Probiotic Colon Support against your medications. The heart of this page is the interaction checker and the full interaction report — how this product’s ingredients may interact with prescription and over-the-counter medicines you may be taking.
Around that, we add a pharmacist’s high-level view of the product as a whole — what’s inside, the evidence for its stated use, how transparent the label is, and what safety data exists — so you can see the full picture in one place. It’s educational information from our licensed clinical databases and the clinical staff at HelloPharmacist — not medical advice — and we don’t sell or endorse products. Our editorial policy

HelloPharmacist Scorecard of Probiotic Colon Support by Well At Walgreens
Our pharmacy team’s full take, with four database checks built into the cards below — a summary of what is known, not a grade of the product itself.
What’s inside
Low disclosure
This product contains 3 active ingredients: Bifidobacterium longum, Bifidobacterium bifidum, and Lactobacillus gasseri. These are live probiotic bacteria thought to support digestive and colon health.
The product also contains inactive ingredients (fillers and capsule materials) listed on the label.
Does it work?
Moderate evidence
The evidence for these ingredients is mixed. Bifidobacterium bifidum shows possibly effective evidence for irritable bowel syndrome (IBS) and respiratory tract infections.
Bifidobacterium longum and Lactobacillus gasseri have insufficient reliable evidence for the conditions we checked in our data — meaning the evidence isn't yet established to say whether they work for those uses. If you're considering this for a specific health concern, talk it over with your doctor or pharmacist so they can give you personalized guidance.
How safe is it?
Well-documented data
These probiotics are generally well tolerated in healthy people. However, caution is warranted if you have a weakened immune system or are seriously ill — the data note rare but serious cases of bacterial infection (bacteremia or sepsis) in critically ill patients.
Common side effects are rare but may include abdominal discomfort, bloating, flatulence, constipation, or a dry cough. Pregnancy and lactation: Bifidobacterium longum and Bifidobacterium bifidum are rated possibly safe during pregnancy; Bifidobacterium bifidum data for lactation are not on file.
Lactobacillus gasseri has insufficient data on safety during pregnancy and lactation. Because safety information is limited across these ingredients, check with your doctor or pharmacist before using while pregnant or breastfeeding.
Meds to double-check
Moderate interaction found
Antibiotic drugs are the main concern — they interact with all three probiotics at a Moderate severity level. Since antibiotics can kill the live organisms in this supplement, ask your doctor or pharmacist to help you time them separately (usually a few hours apart) so both work as intended.
The bottom line
Scorecard at a glanceFormula with limited ingredient disclosure with some supporting evidence for its stated purpose. Moderate medication interactions have been identified, and safety information is well characterized.
This product may be worth considering if you have IBS or respiratory concerns, since one ingredient (B. bifidum) shows some evidence for those. The main caution is if you're taking antibiotics — timing matters, so coordinate with your own healthcare provider.
If you have a weakened immune system or are critically ill, check with your doctor before starting. A pharmacist can help you space out your antibiotic and probiotic doses if needed.

Probiotic Colon Support by Well At Walgreens Drug Interactions
HelloPharmacist Interaction Report
Probiotic Colon Support by Well At Walgreens contains three live probiotic bacteria — Bifidobacterium longum, Bifidobacterium bifidum, and Lactobacillus gasseri — all of which interact with antibiotic drugs.
The most serious concern is a Moderate-severity interaction: taking any of these probiotics while on antibiotics might reduce how well the probiotics work, because antibiotics can kill the live organisms in the supplement. Altogether, these interactions span 182 individual medications.
Read the full breakdown — every affected drug type, severity by severity
The interaction occurs because these are live bacteria. When you take antibiotics at the same time, the antibiotics may kill a significant portion of the probiotic organisms before they can do their job.
To reduce this risk, your doctor or pharmacist can help you space out the timing — typically taking the antibiotic and the probiotic several hours apart.
If you're on any antibiotic, run it through the checker below before starting this product so you and your healthcare provider can plan the best timing for both.
