What’s inside
Low disclosure
This prenatal formula contains 5 active probiotic ingredients, each a live bacterial strain chosen for digestive and immune support during pregnancy. The two we can cross-check for interactions are Bifidobacterium animalis subsp. lactis (CUL 34) and Bifidobacterium bifidum (CUL 20).
Three others—Lactobacillus salivarius (CUL 61), Lactobacillus paracasei (CUL 08), and Lactobacillus rhamnosus GG—are included but we hold no interaction data for them. The capsule also contains inactive ingredients: vegetarian capsule shell, microcrystalline cellulose, corn maltodextrin, silicon dioxide, magnesium stearate, and titanium dioxide.
Does it work?
Moderate evidence
Bifidobacterium animalis subsp. lactis is rated possibly effective for respiratory tract infections, irritable bowel syndrome (IBS), and constipation. Bifidobacterium bifidum is possibly effective for IBS and respiratory tract infections, though there isn't enough reliable evidence to rate it for hay fever (allergic rhinitis), Alzheimer disease, or generalized anxiety disorder.
We don't have effectiveness ratings for the other three probiotic strains in this formula.
How safe is it?
Well-documented data
Bifidobacterium animalis subsp. lactis is generally well tolerated by most healthy people when taken as directed, though evidence is limited—check with your doctor first. The most common side effect is diarrhea; bloating, flatulence, abdominal pain, constipation, and stomach burn have been reported rarely.
In one clinical study, two cases of rash (one with itching) occurred in patients taking a combination that included this strain, though it's unclear whether B. lactis itself was responsible. Bifidobacterium bifidum is generally well tolerated in healthy people, though those with weakened immune systems should be cautious and check with their doctor before use.
Bloating and flatulence have been reported with probiotic use generally, though not specifically from B. bifidum. One case of vomiting and fever was reported in a child taking B. bifidum with another probiotic, though it's unclear if the probiotics caused it.
Rare cases of Bifidobacterium sepsis have occurred in critically ill patients, though none have been linked to B. bifidum specifically. For pregnancy, B. bifidum is rated possibly safe; no lactation data is on file.
Meds to double-check
Moderate interaction found
Before you start, check with your doctor or pharmacist if you take antibiotic drugs—both Bifidobacterium strains in this product can lose effectiveness if taken at the same time. You'll want to separate the doses by a few hours.
We could not check the other three probiotic strains for medication interactions.
The bottom line
Scorecard at a glanceFormula with limited ingredient disclosure with some supporting evidence for its stated purpose. Moderate medication interactions have been identified, and safety information is well characterized.
This prenatal probiotic may help with respiratory health, IBS, and constipation through its Bifidobacterium strains, though evidence is still developing. The main caution is timing with antibiotics—they can interfere with each other, so space them apart and ask your doctor or pharmacist how.
If you have a weakened immune system or take antibiotics regularly, talk it over with your healthcare provider before starting.

Probiotic Solutions Prenatal 20 Billion CFUs by GNC Probiotic Solutions Drug Interactions
HelloPharmacist Interaction Report
GNC Probiotic Solutions Prenatal 20 Billion CFUs contains two probiotic strains—Bifidobacterium animalis subsp. lactis and Bifidobacterium bifidum—that have documented interactions with antibiotic drugs.
The most serious concern is Moderate: taking either strain alongside antibiotics might reduce how well the probiotics work, because antibiotics can kill off the live organisms before they settle in your gut. To avoid this, separate when you take antibiotics and this supplement by a few hours.
Read the full breakdown — every affected drug type, severity by severity
Both Bifidobacterium strains carry the same Moderate interaction with antibiotic drugs. The live cultures in probiotic preparations are sensitive to antibiotics, so simultaneous dosing can diminish the probiotic's effectiveness.
We could not check three other ingredients in this product—Lactobacillus salivarius, Lactobacillus paracasei, and Lactobacillus rhamnosus GG—for interactions, as we hold no data on them.
Altogether, these interactions span 182 individual medications. Use the search tool below to check any antibiotic you're taking before you start this product, and talk it over with your doctor or pharmacist about the best way to time them.

Bifidobacterium animalis subsp. lactis (CUL 34 )
Antibiotic Drugs
Theoretically, taking Bifidobacterium lactis with antibiotic drugs might decrease the effectiveness of B. lactis.
Since B. lactis preparations usually contain live and active organisms, simultaneously taking antibiotics might kill a significant number of the organisms. Tell patients to separate administration of antibiotics and B. lactis preparations by at least 2 hours.
Bifidobacterium bifidum (CUL 20)
Antibiotic Drugs
Theoretically, taking Bifidobacterium. bifidum with antibiotic drugs might decrease the effectiveness of B. bifidum.
