ProstaCare Ingredients & Drug Interactions
by Himalaya
What is this page for?
First and foremost: checking ProstaCare against your medications. The heart of this page is the interaction checker and the full interaction report — how this product’s ingredients may interact with prescription and over-the-counter medicines you may be taking.
Around that, we add a pharmacist’s high-level view of the product as a whole — what’s inside, the evidence for its stated use, how transparent the label is, and what safety data exists — so you can see the full picture in one place. It’s educational information from our licensed clinical databases and the clinical staff at HelloPharmacist — not medical advice — and we don’t sell or endorse products. Our editorial policy

HelloPharmacist Scorecard of ProstaCare by Himalaya
Our pharmacy team’s full take, with four database checks built into the cards below — a summary of what is known, not a grade of the product itself.
What’s inside
Low disclosure
Himalaya ProstaCare contains 10 ingredients, 6 of which are active botanicals. The two most prominent are tribulus and shatavari (also called asparagus racemosus), each present as both whole plant and extract forms.
Three-Leaf Caper and Betelnut Palm appear twice each in extract and whole-plant versions. A proprietary herbal blend and bonduc (divi-divi) round out the formula.
The capsule itself is made from plant-based cellulose.
Does it work?
Moderate evidence
The evidence for this product is limited. Tribulus is rated possibly effective for sexual dysfunction, but its use for athletic performance is considered possibly ineffective, and evidence for benign prostatic hyperplasia (enlarged prostate) is too thin to rate.
Shatavari, Three-Leaf Caper, and Bonduc all carry insufficient evidence ratings — meaning the research either doesn't exist or isn't strong enough to draw conclusions about whether they work for their traditional uses like muscle strength, sexual desire, or various respiratory and parasitic conditions. If prostate support is your goal, the data doesn't establish that this formula delivers it.
How safe is it?
Well-documented data
Short-term, tribulus and shatavari are generally well tolerated in healthy adults, but long-term safety data are sparse. Rare serious effects from tribulus include liver and kidney injury, seizures, and painful erection with sexual dysfunction; extremely high doses (like 2 liters of tribulus water daily) have caused weakness, seizures, liver inflammation, and acute kidney injury.
Stomach upset — cramping, nausea, vomiting, diarrhea — can occur, though one study found rates similar to placebo. Bonduc and Betelnut Palm have little to no human safety data.
Avoid this product during pregnancy: tribulus may affect hormones and safety is not established, and shatavari, bonduc, and betelnut safety in pregnancy aren't well studied. Breastfeeding is also not recommended because reliable safety data are lacking for all these ingredients.
Meds to double-check
Moderate interaction found
Check your medications against these types before taking ProstaCare: blood pressure drugs (antihypertensive medications) — tribulus may lower blood pressure further; diabetes medications — tribulus may lower blood sugar; lithium — both tribulus and shatavari may raise lithium levels; and water pills (diuretics) — shatavari may increase their effect. No interactions are documented for the other ingredients we could check.
The bottom line
Scorecard at a glanceFormula with limited ingredient disclosure with some supporting evidence for its stated purpose. Moderate medication interactions have been identified, and safety information is well characterized.
ProstaCare is a multi-herb formula that targets prostate and sexual health, but evidence that it works for those goals is weak or absent. If you take blood pressure drugs, diabetes medications, lithium, or water pills, check with your own doctor or pharmacist before starting — interactions are possible.

ProstaCare by Himalaya Drug Interactions
HelloPharmacist Interaction Report
Himalaya ProstaCare interacts with medications through its tribulus and shatavari content.
The most serious concern is with blood pressure drugs (antihypertensive medications): tribulus can lower blood pressure, and adding this product might drop it too far, raising the risk of dizziness, fainting, or dangerously low blood pressure (hypotension).
Read the full breakdown — every affected drug type, severity by severity
You'll also want to check if you take diabetes medications or lithium. Tribulus may lower blood sugar, which could tip the balance if you're already on diabetes drugs and cause low blood sugar (hypoglycemia).
Both tribulus and shatavari may increase lithium levels in your body, potentially to unsafe concentrations — your lithium dose might need adjustment.
Shatavari can also interact with water pills (diuretic drugs), theoretically increasing fluid and electrolyte loss, though this hasn't been confirmed in humans yet. Altogether, these interactions span 266 individual medications.
Several ingredients in this product — Three-Leaf Caper, Betelnut Palm, and their extracts — could not be checked because we hold no data for them. Use the medication checker on this page to look up your exact drugs before starting.

For each ingredient in ProstaCare with known interactions, here are the types of medications they can affect. Open any type for the detail — or search your exact drug in the checker above.
Tribulus
Antidiabetes Drugs
Taking tribulus with antidiabetes drugs might increase the risk of hypoglycemia.
Clinical research shows that Tribulus can lower blood glucose levels in adults with type 2 diabetes who are taking antidiabetes medications.
Antihypertensive Drugs
Theoretically, taking tribulus with antihypertensive drugs might increase the risk of hypotension.
Animal research shows that tribulus can lower blood pressure by inhibiting angiotensin-converting enzyme (ACE). Tribulus has also demonstrated hypotensive effects in pre-hypertensive adults.
Lithium
Theoretically, tribulus might increase the levels and clinical effects of lithium.
Tribulus is thought to have diuretic properties. Due to these potential diuretic effects, tribulus might reduce excretion and increase levels of lithium. The dose of lithium might need to be decreased.
Shatavari
Diuretic Drugs
Theoretically, asparagus racemosus root might increase diuresis and electrolyte loss when used with diuretic drugs.
Animal studies show that asparagus racemosus root has diuretic effects when used in high doses. This effect has not been reported in humans.
Lithium
Theoretically, Asparagus racemosus root could reduce excretion and increase levels of lithium.
Animal research suggests that Asparagus racemosus root has diuretic properties when used in high doses. Therefore, it might reduce excretion and increase levels of lithium. The dose of lithium might need to be decreased.
