Every active ingredient lists its own amount on the label.

Why this rating?
  • The label discloses an exact amount for 1 of its 1 active ingredient.
  • No proprietary blends here — you can verify the dose of every single component.

This product contains one active ingredient: purified shilajit powder. Shilajit is a mineral-rich substance traditionally used in Ayurvedic medicine.

The brand emphasizes purification to avoid contaminants like heavy metals that can be found in unpurified versions.

Evidence for Intended Use · database check
By FDA rules, dietary supplements can’t claim to treat, cure, or prevent disease — so labels speak in careful marketing language. We discern each product’s intended use from its name, label claims, and label statements, then grade the clinical evidence for that use. How these ratings are computed
Not assessable

This is a single-ingredient Shilajit product and its label doesn't state a use — see Shilajit's own graded uses on its monograph.

Why this rating?
  • We looked at the product name, claims, and label statements and couldn't find a stated purpose to grade.

The evidence we hold doesn't establish shilajit's effectiveness for the conditions it's marketed for—Alzheimer disease, sexual dysfunction, athletic performance, benign prostatic hyperplasia (enlarged prostate), and osteoporosis all carry a rating of insufficient reliable evidence. That means the research so far isn't strong enough to say whether it works for these uses.

How safe is it?

Well-documented data
Safety Information · database check
Well characterized

Adverse-effect, pregnancy, and general safety data are on file for most of these ingredients.

Why this rating?
  • We hold adverse-effect (side-effect) data for 1 of the 1 matched ingredient.
  • Pregnancy & breastfeeding safety ratings cover 1 of 1.
  • General safety write-ups exist for 1 of 1.
  • Remember: this measures how much safety information exists. Thin data is not the same as being safe.

Shilajit is generally well tolerated, though a small number of cases have been reported: one person developed a severe allergic reaction (hives progressing to anaphylaxis) after a dose increase, and headache has been reported rarely in clinical studies. Because unpurified shilajit can contain heavy metals and other contaminants, use only purified, tested brands like this one.

The safety data advises against shilajit during pregnancy and breastfeeding due to insufficient information and contamination risk. If you're pregnant or breastfeeding, talk with your doctor or pharmacist before considering it.

The most serious documented interaction for these ingredients is Moderate. Check your medications for a personalized result.

Why this rating?
  • 1 of the 1 matched ingredient can interact with medications — Shilajit.
  • The most serious interaction on file is rated Moderate.
  • Some involve high-stakes drug classes: diabetes medications.
  • For scale: 86 individual medications appear in the full list. A big number alone doesn't make a product dangerous — what matters is whether YOUR medication is on it, so run yours through the interaction checker on this page.

If you take antidiabetes drugs—insulin, metformin, glibenclamide, or any other medication for blood sugar—double-check with your pharmacist or doctor before adding this product. Shilajit may increase the risk of low blood sugar when used alongside these medications.

Antidiabetes Drugs

Taking shilajit with antidiabetes drugs might increase the risk of hypoglycemia.
Most human and animal research shows that shilajit can decrease fasting plasma glucose levels. In an animal model, shilajit 100 mg per kg daily enhanced the glucose-lowering ability of both glibenclamide and metformin when given in combination over a 4 week period. Monitor blood glucose levels closely. Dose adjustments might be necessary.

Purified Shilajit by Herbadiet: Common Questions

Does Purified Shilajit by Herbadiet interact with any medications?
Yes. Based on its ingredients, Purified Shilajit has a known interaction with 86 medications. Use the checker to see how it interacts with a specific drug.
How can one product interact with so many drugs?
Purified Shilajit contains a single active ingredient, and that one ingredient can interact with many different medications on its own. We check it against each medication and show the mechanism responsible.
Where does this information come from?
The product label data comes from the NIH Dietary Supplement Label Database (DSLD); the interaction data is built on the Natural Medicines database and reviewed by HelloPharmacist pharmacists.
Will this help with Alzheimer disease or sexual dysfunction?
The evidence we hold doesn't establish whether shilajit works for either of those conditions. Both carry a rating of insufficient reliable evidence, meaning the research hasn't been strong enough yet to say yes or no. Talk with your doctor about whether it might be worth trying as part of your routine.
Is this safe during pregnancy?
No. The safety data advises against shilajit during pregnancy due to insufficient safety information and the contamination risk in unpurified products. If you're pregnant or thinking about becoming pregnant, talk with your doctor or pharmacist before considering it.
Can I breastfeed while taking this?
Safety is unknown while breastfeeding, so it's best avoided. If you're nursing, talk with your pharmacist or doctor before starting.
Why does the label say 'purified'?
Unpurified shilajit can contain heavy metals and other contaminants. That's why it's important to use only purified, tested brands like this one.
Are there any side effects?
Shilajit is generally well tolerated. Headache has been reported rarely in studies. One unusual case of a severe allergic reaction (hives and anaphylaxis) occurred after a dose increase, though this is extremely uncommon.
