Saw palmetto is generally well tolerated, and most side effects are mild and reversible. The most common ones reported are abdominal pain, constipation, decreased libido, diarrhea, dizziness, fatigue, headache, nausea, and rhinitis.

Rarely, a fixed drug eruption (localized blisters and skin reactions) has been reported, and very occasionally heart rhythm issues or blood pressure changes have been noted in people taking it.
