The three ingredients are generally well tolerated at standard doses. Pumpkin seed oil most commonly causes abdominal discomfort, diarrhea, nausea, or vomiting; rare cases of anaphylaxis have been reported, and two case reports describe substantial hair loss linked to high concentrations of a compound called cucurbitacin in bitter-tasting or wild pumpkins.

Saw palmetto is mild and reversible in most people—common effects include abdominal pain, constipation, decreased libido, diarrhea, dizziness, fatigue, headache, nausea, and rhinitis—though rare reports include a skin reaction with blisters, worsening acne, and cardiac events like heart block or heart attack. Uva ursi is well tolerated short-term at low doses but can be toxic at high doses; common effects are diarrhea, nausea, stomach upset, and vomiting, and at very high doses (20+ grams) it may cause serious effects like convulsions, delirium, and cyanosis.

Pregnancy: Saw palmetto and uva ursi are rated unsafe in pregnancy and should be avoided; pumpkin seed oil safety in pregnancy is not well studied—talk to your doctor. Breastfeeding: safety data is insufficient for all three ingredients—discuss with your doctor or pharmacist before use.
