Every active ingredient lists its own amount on the label.

Why this rating?
  • The label discloses an exact amount for 1 of its 1 active ingredient.
  • No proprietary blends here — you can verify the dose of every single component.

This product contains one active ingredient: shuddha shilajit, a purified form of shilajit, a mineral-rich substance used in traditional medicine. The capsule also contains inactive ingredients—silicon dioxide, maize starch, and an HPMC capsule shell—which are fillers and the capsule material itself.

Evidence for Intended Use · database check
By FDA rules, dietary supplements can’t claim to treat, cure, or prevent disease — so labels speak in careful marketing language. We discern each product’s intended use from its name, label claims, and label statements, then grade the clinical evidence for that use. How these ratings are computed
Not assessable

This is a single-ingredient Shilajit product and its label doesn't state a use — see Shilajit's own graded uses on its monograph.

Why this rating?
  • We looked at the product name, claims, and label statements and couldn't find a stated purpose to grade.

We don't have reliable evidence to rate shilajit for any of the conditions in the published data we hold—including Alzheimer disease, sexual dysfunction, athletic performance, benign prostatic hyperplasia (enlarged prostate), and osteoporosis. That doesn't mean it doesn't work; it means the evidence isn't established yet in our files.

If you're considering it for a specific health concern, talk it over with your doctor or pharmacist to see what the current research shows.

How safe is it?

Well-documented data
Safety Information · database check
Well characterized

Adverse-effect, pregnancy, and general safety data are on file for most of these ingredients.

Why this rating?
  • We hold adverse-effect (side-effect) data for 1 of the 1 matched ingredient.
  • Pregnancy & breastfeeding safety ratings cover 1 of 1.
  • General safety write-ups exist for 1 of 1.
  • Remember: this measures how much safety information exists. Thin data is not the same as being safe.

Shilajit is generally well tolerated, though a small number of cases have been reported: one person developed a severe allergic reaction (anaphylaxis) after taking a higher dose, and headache has been reported rarely in research. A case of high blood pressure linked to mineral imbalance was reported in someone who took shilajit during pregnancy, though the product's direct role couldn't be confirmed.

Because unpurified shilajit may contain heavy metals or other contaminants, use only purified, tested brands. Do not use during pregnancy or while breastfeeding—there isn't enough safety data, and contamination risk is a concern.

  • The most serious interaction on file is rated Moderate.
  • Some involve high-stakes drug classes: diabetes medications.

Before taking Herbal Hills Shilajit, check with your doctor or pharmacist if you take any antidiabetes medication—including insulin, metformin, glibenclamide, or others. Shilajit can enhance their glucose-lowering effect and increase your risk of low blood sugar.

~ Pure ~ Natural ~ Effective

The ancient medical literature attributes many health benefits of Shilajit known as "Conqueror or mountains & destroyer of weakness." It is decomposition of the plant matter in the rocks centuries before. The transformed plant matter is extruded from the rocks by geothermal pressures. It is collected in raw form for purification. Shilajit is considered to increase the core energy responsible for sexual and spiritual power. It helps to counteract debility and general fatigue.

Antidiabetes Drugs

Taking shilajit with antidiabetes drugs might increase the risk of hypoglycemia.
Most human and animal research shows that shilajit can decrease fasting plasma glucose levels. In an animal model, shilajit 100 mg per kg daily enhanced the glucose-lowering ability of both glibenclamide and metformin when given in combination over a 4 week period. Monitor blood glucose levels closely. Dose adjustments might be necessary.
