Our pharmacy team’s full take, with four database checks built into the cards below — a summary of what is known, not a grade of the product itself.
What’s inside
Low disclosure
This supplement contains three active ingredients: motherwort, bugleweed, and lemon balm, combined in a proprietary blend at a total of 450 mg per capsule. Motherwort is traditionally used for bleeding and women's health; bugleweed and lemon balm are often included in thyroid-support formulas.
The capsule itself is made from gelatin and water.
Does it work?
Moderate evidence
The evidence for these ingredients is limited. Motherwort is possibly effective for bleeding, but data on its use for the other conditions listed — anxiety, amenorrhea, asthma, and alcohol use disorder — are insufficient to rate.
Bugleweed's effectiveness for hyperthyroidism, insomnia, and premenstrual syndrome is not established in the data we hold. Lemon balm is possibly effective for cold sores, stress, and depression, but evidence for its thyroid-support role specifically is not established here.
How safe is it?
Well-documented data
Motherwort is generally well tolerated when taken orally in typical amounts, though safety data in humans are limited. The most common side effects are diarrhea and stomach irritation.
Taking more than 3 grams can cause uterine bleeding. Motherwort is not recommended in pregnancy because it may stimulate the uterus.
Bugleweed should be used only under a healthcare provider's guidance because it may affect thyroid function; it's not safe in pregnancy or while breastfeeding, as it may reduce milk production. Lemon balm is generally well tolerated for short-term use, though long-term safety at high doses is not well studied.
It's best avoided in pregnancy unless your doctor advises otherwise, and you should talk with your doctor before using it while breastfeeding.
Meds to double-check
Moderate interaction found
Check with your pharmacist if you take thyroid hormone replacement therapy — bugleweed and lemon balm may interfere with how it works (Moderate severity). Also double-check if you take any CNS depressants like sedatives, sleep aids, or narcotic pain relievers, since motherwort and lemon balm may increase their sedating effects (Moderate severity).
The bottom line
Scorecard at a glanceFormula with limited ingredient disclosure with some supporting evidence behind its ingredients' uses. Moderate medication interactions have been identified, and safety information is well characterized.
This product combines three herbs that may help with various conditions, but the evidence for thyroid support specifically is not established. If you take thyroid replacement therapy, sedating medications, or any other prescription drugs, check with your pharmacist before starting — the interactions with thyroid hormones and CNS depressants are real.
Pregnant or breastfeeding women should not use this product without guidance from their doctor.

Thyroid Support 450 mg by TerraVita Premium Collection Drug Interactions
HelloPharmacist Interaction Report
TerraVita Premium Collection Thyroid Support has documented interactions with two medication types.
The most serious concern is with thyroid hormones (Moderate severity): both bugleweed and lemon balm may interfere with how thyroid hormone replacement therapy works. Bugleweed can block the conversion of one form of thyroid hormone to another, potentially reducing the medication's effects.
Lemon balm constituents may bind to thyroid-stimulating hormone receptors and inhibit thyroid function signaling.
Read the full breakdown — every affected drug type, severity by severity
Additionally, both motherwort and lemon balm interact with CNS depressants (Moderate severity) — drugs like sedatives, sleep aids, and narcotic painkillers. Taking either of these ingredients alongside those medications may add to their sedating effects.
Altogether, these interactions span 264 individual medications. If you take thyroid replacement therapy, any sedating medications, or any other prescription drugs, use the medication checker below with your exact prescriptions before you start this product.

For each ingredient in Thyroid Support 450 mg with known interactions, here are the types of medications they can affect. Open any type for the detail — or search your exact drug in the checker above.
Lemon Balm
Cns Depressants
Theoretically, concomitant use of lemon balm might have additive effects with CNS depressant drugs.
Lemon balm seems to have CNS depressant activity in animals and in humans.
Thyroid Hormone
Theoretically, lemon balm might interfere with thyroid hormone replacement therapy.
In vitro, constituents of lemon balm extract bind to thyroid stimulating hormone (TSH), preventing TSH receptor-binding and leading to the inhibition of TSH-stimulated adenylate cyclase activity. In animals, lemon balm extract has been shown to decrease levels of circulating TSH and inhibit thyroid secretion.
Motherwort
Cns Depressants
Theoretically, taking motherwort concomitantly with other CNS depressants may increase the risk of sedation.
Motherwort has been reported to cause CNS depression and sedation.
Bugleweed
Thyroid Hormone
Theoretically, bugleweed may alter thyroid function.
Concomitant use of bugleweed may reduce the effects of thyroid hormones by blocking peripheral conversion of thyroxine (T4) to triiodothyronine (T3).
