Our pharmacy team’s full take, with four database checks built into the cards below — a summary of what is known, not a grade of the product itself.
What’s inside
Full disclosure
Ultra Strength Beauty has five active ingredients. Biotin is a B vitamin that supports hair, skin, and nail health.
Sodium is an electrolyte your body needs in small amounts. Olive leaf extract comes from the olive plant and is used in traditional wellness products.
Hyaluronic acid is a natural compound that helps skin retain moisture. Collagen peptides are broken-down collagen protein, meant to support skin elasticity and hydration.
The product also contains inactive ingredients—rice bran oil, gelatin, sorbitol, glycerin, water, beeswax, sunflower lecithin, natural flavor, titanium dioxide, and carmine—that make up the softgel capsule and help deliver the actives.
Does it work?
Strong evidence
Biotin is likely effective for biotin deficiency. For other uses like hair loss (alopecia areata), the evidence isn't solid enough to rate.
For multiple sclerosis and seborrheic dermatitis, biotin has been rated possibly ineffective. Hyaluronic acid is possibly effective for dry eyes and venous leg ulcers.
Collagen peptides are possibly effective for aging skin and dry skin, but possibly ineffective for muscle strength. Olive leaf extract and sodium have insufficient evidence for the beauty and skin claims they're often used for—the data we hold doesn't establish they work for those purposes.
If you're taking this for a specific skin or beauty concern, talk with your pharmacist about what the evidence actually shows for your goal.
How safe is it?
Well-documented data
Biotin is generally well tolerated, even at higher doses, because your body removes excess in the urine. Mild diarrhea has been rarely reported at very high doses (300 mg daily); this product's dose is not specified in the facts, so check the label.
One isolated case of a lung and heart lining inflammation was reported in someone taking biotin plus other supplements and medications, but whether biotin caused it is unknown. Sodium is well tolerated in normal dietary amounts, but too much is linked to high blood pressure and heart and kidney strain.
Olive leaf extract appears well tolerated; headache and stomach discomfort are the most common reported effects, and one person reported acne. Hyaluronic acid is well tolerated when taken by mouth based on available data.
Collagen peptides are generally well tolerated as a protein; nausea, indigestion, diarrhea, and gas are rare. Safety data during pregnancy and breastfeeding is not on file for hyaluronic acid and collagen peptides—talk with your doctor if you're pregnant or nursing.
Meds to double-check
Moderate interaction found
Check before starting if you take lithium (used for mood disorders)—sodium from this product could raise lithium to toxic levels. Blood pressure medications, corticosteroids (like prednisone), HIV drugs like didanosine, sodium phosphate bowel-prep solutions, and tolvaptan (Samsca) for low sodium are all Moderate severity concerns with the sodium in this formula.
Run your exact medications through the checker on this page.
The bottom line
Scorecard at a glanceFully disclosed formula with clinical evidence supporting its stated purpose. Moderate medication interactions have been identified, and safety information is well characterized.
This product might appeal to you if you're looking for biotin to support hair, skin, and nails—biotin is likely effective for deficiency. If you take blood pressure medicine, lithium, HIV medication, or corticosteroids, check your exact medications before starting, because the sodium in this product could interfere.
Ask your pharmacist if the sodium amount and the combination of actives is right for what you're trying to achieve.

Ultra Strength Beauty by OLLY Drug Interactions
HelloPharmacist Interaction Report
OLLY Ultra Strength Beauty contains sodium, which interacts with a number of medications.
Sodium can alter how your body handles lithium (used for bipolar disorder), potentially raising lithium levels to dangerous heights—this is a Moderate severity concern. It may also reduce how well blood pressure medications work, since extra sodium can push blood pressure up and counteract what those drugs are trying to do.
Read the full breakdown — every affected drug type, severity by severity
Additionally, sodium interacts with corticosteroids (steroids like prednisone), didanosine (an HIV medication), sodium phosphate bowel-prep solutions, and tolvaptan (a drug for low sodium levels). All of these are Moderate severity.
The main risk is that sodium from this supplement could push your sodium level too high when combined with these drugs.
Biotin, olive leaf extract, hyaluronic acid, and collagen peptides have no documented interactions in our data. Altogether, these interactions span 203 individual medications.
If you take any prescription medication—especially for blood pressure, bipolar disorder, HIV, or heart problems—run it through the interaction checker on this page with your exact drug name and dose before you start.

For each ingredient in Ultra Strength Beauty with known interactions, here are the types of medications it can affect. Open any type for the detail — or search your exact drug in the checker above.
Sodium
Antihypertensive Drugs
Theoretically, a high intake of dietary sodium might reduce the effectiveness of antihypertensive drugs.
High intake of dietary sodium can increase systolic and diastolic blood pressure. Also, high intake of sodium may necessitate increased use of antihypertensive medications to achieve blood pressure control in some patients, such as those with chronic kidney disease.
Corticosteroids
Concomitant use of mineralocorticoids and some glucocorticoids with sodium supplements might increase the risk of hypernatremia.
Mineralocorticoids and some glucocorticoids (corticosteroids) cause sodium retention. This effect is dose-related and depends on mineralocorticoid potency. It is most common with hydrocortisone, cortisone, and fludrocortisone, followed by prednisone and prednisolone.
Didanosine (Videx)
Concomitant use of didanosine with additional sodium from dietary or supplemental sources may increase the risk of hypernatremia.
Didanosine formulations contain a significant amount of sodium.
Lithium
Altering dietary intake of sodium might alter the levels and clinical effects of lithium.
High sodium intake can reduce plasma concentrations of lithium by increasing lithium excretion. Reducing sodium intake can significantly increase plasma concentrations of lithium and cause lithium toxicity in patients being treated with lithium carbonate. Stabilizing sodium intake is shown to reduce the percentage of patients with lithium level fluctuations above 0.8 mEq/L. Patients taking lithium should avoid significant alterations in their dietary intake of sodium.
Sodium Phosphates
Theoretically, concomitant use of sodium phosphate with sodium supplements might increase the risk of hypernatremia.
Use of high doses (> 45 mL in 24 hours) of sodium phosphate, such as those used for bowel cleansing before surgery, can lead to serious electrolyte disturbances, including hypernatremia. The risk of hypernatremia is highest in the elderly and people with other risk factors for electrolyte disturbances.
Sodium-Containing Drugs
Concomitant use of sodium-containing drugs with additional sodium from dietary or supplemental sources may increase the risk of hypernatremia and long-term sodium-related complications.
The Chronic Disease Risk Reduction (CDRR) intake level of 2.3 grams of sodium daily indicates the intake at which it is believed that chronic disease risk increases for the apparently healthy population. Some medications contain high quantities of sodium. When used in conjunction with sodium supplements or high-sodium diets, the CDRR may be exceeded. Additionally, concomitant use may increase the risk for hypernatremia; this risk is highest in the elderly and people with other risk factors for electrolyte disturbances.
Tolvaptan (Samsca)
Theoretically, concomitant use of tolvaptan with sodium might increase the risk of hypernatremia.
Tolvaptan is a vasopressin receptor 2 antagonist that is used to increase sodium levels in patients with hyponatremia. Patients taking tolvaptan should use caution with the use of sodium salts such as sodium chloride.
