Amlodipine is a calcium channel blocker that relaxes your blood vessels to bring your blood pressure down. Here's the thing about sodium: when you take in a lot of it (think salty foods or actual sodium supplements), your body holds onto more water, which raises blood pressure. That can work against what amlodipine is trying to do, so your numbers may stay higher than you and your doctor want.

This isn't about amlodipine building up or causing more side effects. It's simply that too much salt can blunt how well the medicine controls your pressure, especially if you have kidney trouble. Normal seasoning is usually fine, but deliberate sodium supplements are another story. If you're considering one, please check with your pharmacist or doctor first.
