Clinical
Tylenol Cold and Flu is an over-the-counter film-coated tablet taken by mouth that contains four active ingredients. Acetaminophen is typically used to reduce fever and ease pain, while phenylephrine acts as a nasal decongestant. Dextromethorphan is commonly included to help suppress cough. Guaifenesin functions as an expectorant, intended to help thin mucus and make coughs more productive. This product is marketed under the FDA's over-the-counter monograph guidelines for cold and flu symptom relief.
