STIMULANT DRUGS
Why this applies to Chlorpheniramine Tannate, Phenylephrine Tannate
Chlorpheniramine Tannate, Phenylephrine Tannate falls under STIMULANT DRUGS — the group 1,4-dmaa interacts with.
Interaction has been documented in animal or in lab research, or the interaction has been documented in humans but is limited to case reports or conflicting clinical research exists.
Here's the thing to know about this combo: the phenylephrine part of Ricobid is itself a decongestant that works a lot like a mild stimulant. It tightens blood vessels, which can nudge your blood pressure up and your heart rate along with it. 1,4-DMAA pushes in the very same direction, acting like adrenaline in the body. So when you stack them, you are essentially doubling up on that squeeze. The worry is added strain on your heart and blood pressure, with possible jitteriness, a racing or pounding heartbeat, headache, or feeling wired.
This concern is based on how these ingredients behave (theoretical pharmacology), not big human trials. Still, I'd steer clear of 1,4-DMAA altogether since the FDA considers it unsafe. Please check with your pharmacist or doctor before mixing anything like this.
- Cohen PA, Travis JC, Keizers PHJ, Deuster P, Venhuis BJ. Four experimental stimulants found in sports and weight loss supplements: 2-amino-6-methylheptane (octodrine), 1,4-dimethylamylamine (1,4-DMAA), 1,3-dimethylamylamine (1,3-DMAA) and 1,3-dimethylbuty
