Dextromethorphan, Methscopolamine, Phenylephrine falls under STIMULANT DRUGS — the group 1,4-dmaa interacts with.

1,4-DMAA is thought to have stimulant and vasoconstrictive effects, which have been demonstrated in animal studies. Theoretically, taking 1,4-DMAA with stimulant drugs might increase the risk of adverse cardiovascular effects. Some stimulant drugs include amphetamine, caffeine, diethylpropion (Tenuate), methylphenidate, phentermine (Ionamin), pseudoephedrine (Sudafed, others), and many others.

Here's the thing to watch with this combo. Your cold and cough product contains phenylephrine, which is itself a decongestant that tightens blood vessels and can nudge up your blood pressure. 1,4-DMAA is a powerful stimulant that does much the same thing. Stack the two and you may push that effect harder, so the real worry is on the cardiovascular side: a racing or pounding heart, higher blood pressure, jitteriness, or headache. The dextromethorphan and methscopolamine pieces aren't the main concern here.

This caution is based on how these stimulants behave rather than on big human studies, so it's more theoretical than proven. Still, since we don't recommend 1,4-DMAA at all (the FDA considers it unsafe), please check with your pharmacist or doctor before mixing them.
