Acetaminophen, Butalbital, Caffeine falls under CYTOCHROME P450 3A4 (CYP3A4) SUBSTRATES — the group Acacia Rigidula interacts with.

Theoretically, Acacia rigidula products that are adulterated with beta-methylphenylethylamine (BMPEA) might increase the levels of CYP3A4 substrates.
In vitro research shows that BMPEA, an adulterant found in many Acacia rigidula products, inhibits CYP3A4 enzyme by 37%.

Here's the gist with your headache combo (Esgic, Fiogesic, and similar). Some Acacia rigidula products have been found spiked with a hidden stimulant called BMPEA. In a lab dish, BMPEA slowed down an enzyme called CYP3A4 by about a third. Since your medication's butalbital component is partly handled by that same enzyme, the worry is that it could clear a bit slower and build up. That might mean more drowsiness, dizziness, foggy thinking, or feeling overly sedated.

Honestly though, this is only a theoretical concern based on test-tube data, not real people. On top of that, both this supplement and your medicine already carry caffeine and stimulant effects, so stacking them can leave you jittery or with a racing heart. I'd skip the Acacia product and check with your pharmacist first.

Here's the thing to keep in mind: your headache medicine already contains caffeine, which is a stimulant. Acacia rigidula products may carry their own stimulant-like amines, and some have even been found spiked with an unapproved stimulant called BMPEA. Stacking two stimulant sources together can add up, so you could feel jittery, anxious, or notice a racing or pounding heartbeat, higher blood pressure, or trouble sleeping.

I'll be honest with you: this concern is theoretical, based on how these ingredients work rather than solid human studies. Still, I'd lean cautious here, especially since acacia products are poorly regulated. The butalbital and acetaminophen parts aren't really the issue. Before combining them, please check with your pharmacist or doctor.

What Is Acetaminophen, Butalbital, and Caffeine Used For?

Brand names: Tecnal, Esgic Plus, Fiogesic, Triad, Repan, Esgic, Fioricet

This combination product — available as capsules, tablets, and oral solution under various names including Fioricet — is used to relieve the symptoms of tension headaches (also called muscle contraction headaches).

All supported products, including Fioricet capsules and the oral solution, share this same indication. Because butalbital can be habit-forming, extended or repeated use is not recommended, and these products are not established as safe or effective for treating headaches that come back frequently over time.
