Dextroamphetamine falls under CYTOCHROME P450 2D6 (CYP2D6) SUBSTRATES — the group Acacia Rigidula interacts with.

Theoretically, Acacia rigidula products that are adulterated with beta-methylphenylethylamine (BMPEA) might increase the levels of CYP2D6 substrates.
In vitro research shows that BMPEA, an adulterant found in many Acacia rigidula products, strongly inhibits CYP2D6 enzyme.

Here's the concern with pairing Acacia rigidula with dextroamphetamine. Some of these supplements have been found to contain a hidden stimulant called BMPEA, and lab studies suggest BMPEA can block an enzyme (CYP2D6) that helps your body break down dextroamphetamine. If that enzyme is slowed, this medication could build up in your system, meaning more of its effects and side effects: a racing or pounding heart, higher blood pressure, jitteriness, trouble sleeping, anxiety, or appetite loss.

On top of that, both products are stimulants, so stacking them could add to those effects. The good news is this is based on lab data only, not real human studies, so it's theoretical. Still, I'd skip the Acacia product and check with your pharmacist or doctor first.

Here's the simple version: dextroamphetamine (Dexedrine, Xelstrym) is already a strong stimulant that revs up your brain and body. Acacia rigidula supplements may contain their own stimulant-like amines, and some products have even been found to hide an unapproved stimulant called BMPEA. Stacking two stimulants together can add up, so the worry is too much stimulation, things like a racing or pounding heart, higher blood pressure, jitteriness, trouble sleeping, and anxiety.

To be fair, this concern is theoretical and based on how these ingredients behave, not on solid human studies. Still, with your heart and blood pressure on the line, I'd play it safe. Please check with your pharmacist or doctor before pairing this supplement with your medication.

What Is Dextroamphetamine Used For?

Brand name: Dexedrine

Dextroamphetamine treats two conditions: ADHD and narcolepsy (a sleep disorder causing uncontrollable daytime sleepiness). It is available in multiple forms — tablets, extended-release capsules, oral solution, and a skin patch — and the approved age ranges vary by product.

Oral tablets (Zenzedi, generic) and oral solutions (Procentra, generic) are approved for ADHD in children as young as 3 years old and for narcolepsy. Extended-release capsules (Dexedrine, generic) are approved for ADHD in children ages 6 to 16 and for narcolepsy. Xelstrym, the transdermal patch, is approved only for ADHD — in adults and children ages 6 and older — and is not indicated for narcolepsy.
