Dextromethorphan HBr falls under CYTOCHROME P450 2D6 (CYP2D6) SUBSTRATES — the group Acacia Rigidula interacts with.

Theoretically, Acacia rigidula products that are adulterated with beta-methylphenylethylamine (BMPEA) might increase the levels of CYP2D6 substrates.
In vitro research shows that BMPEA, an adulterant found in many Acacia rigidula products, strongly inhibits CYP2D6 enzyme.

Here's the concern with pairing these two. Some Acacia rigidula products have been found spiked with a stimulant called BMPEA, and lab studies suggest BMPEA can block an enzyme called CYP2D6. Your body relies on that same enzyme to break down dextromethorphan, the cough suppressant in Vicks Formula 44. If that enzyme is slowed, dextromethorphan can build up higher than usual.

In real terms, that could mean more drowsiness, dizziness, confusion, or feeling jittery and unwell. I'll be honest though, this is theoretical and comes only from test-tube research, not people, so the actual risk is unclear. Honestly, given the safety questions around these products, I'd skip Acacia rigidula altogether and check with your pharmacist first.

Here's the connection: your body uses an enzyme called CYP3A4 to help clear dextromethorphan, the active ingredient in Vicks Formula 44. Some Acacia rigidula products have been found spiked with a stimulant called BMPEA, and in lab (test tube) studies that compound slowed CYP3A4 down a bit. If that happened in a person, dextromethorphan could build up more than usual, which might mean stronger drowsiness, dizziness, or that floaty, confused feeling some folks get from cough medicine.

I want to be honest, though: this is theoretical and only based on lab data, not real patient cases, so I wouldn't lose sleep over it. The bigger worry is the stimulant itself. Please check with your pharmacist before mixing them.
