Here's the gist with this combo cold-and-cough product. One of its ingredients, dextromethorphan (the cough suppressant), is cleared by a liver enzyme called CYP2D6. Some Acacia rigidula supplements have been found spiked with a hidden stimulant (BMPEA), and lab studies suggest BMPEA can block that very enzyme. If it does, dextromethorphan could build up and lead to more drowsiness, dizziness, or feeling foggy. There's also a stimulant-on-stimulant concern, since both Acacia products and the phenylephrine in this medicine can nudge blood pressure and heart rate up.

Keep in mind this is theoretical, based on lab data, not real patient studies. Still, I'd skip Acacia rigidula here and check with your pharmacist first.

Here's the gist of it. Some Acacia rigidula products are spiked with a hidden stimulant called BMPEA, and in lab testing that compound slowed down CYP3A4, one of the liver enzymes that helps clear the dextromethorphan piece of your combo. If that enzyme works slower, dextromethorphan could build up a bit, which may mean more drowsiness, dizziness, or feeling foggy. On top of that, this supplement acts like a stimulant, so pairing it with the phenylephrine (a decongestant that raises blood pressure) could nudge your heart rate and blood pressure up more than you'd want.

To be fair, this enzyme effect is only seen in test-tube studies, so it's theoretical, not proven in people. Still, given the stimulant overlap and quality concerns, I'd skip Acacia rigidula and check with your pharmacist first.

Here's the thing to watch with this combo: your DA Chewable product contains phenylephrine, a decongestant that's a stimulant in its own right. It tightens blood vessels, which can nudge up your blood pressure and heart rate. Acacia rigidula is sold as an energy and weight-loss ingredient, and some products have been found to contain stimulant compounds (even an unapproved drug called BMPEA). Stack a stimulant supplement on top of a stimulant decongestant and you may get more of the same: a racing or pounding heart, jitteriness, headache, or a bump in blood pressure.

To be fair, this is a theoretical concern based on how these ingredients behave, not hard proof. Still, because of the safety questions around acacia rigidula products, I'd skip it and check with your pharmacist or doctor first.
