Ondansetron falls under CYTOCHROME P450 2D6 (CYP2D6) SUBSTRATES — the group Acacia Rigidula interacts with.

Theoretically, Acacia rigidula products that are adulterated with beta-methylphenylethylamine (BMPEA) might increase the levels of CYP2D6 substrates.
In vitro research shows that BMPEA, an adulterant found in many Acacia rigidula products, strongly inhibits CYP2D6 enzyme.

Here's the gist with ondansetron (Zofran). Your liver uses an enzyme called CYP2D6 to help break this drug down. Some Acacia rigidula products have been found spiked with a hidden stimulant called BMPEA, and in lab studies BMPEA strongly blocks that enzyme. If it slows your body's ability to clear ondansetron, levels could creep up a bit, which may mean more of its usual effects like headache, constipation, or feeling tired or dizzy.

I want to be straight with you: this is theoretical and comes only from test-tube research, so the real-world risk is probably small. Still, since these supplements can contain an unapproved stimulant, I'd skip Acacia rigidula and check with your pharmacist or doctor first.

In vitro research shows that BMPEA, an adulterant found in many Acacia rigidula products, inhibits CYP3A4 enzyme by 37%.

Here's the gist for ondansetron (Zofran). Your liver uses an enzyme called CYP3A4 to help break it down. Some Acacia rigidula products have been found spiked with a stimulant called BMPEA, and lab studies suggest BMPEA can slow that enzyme down by about a third. In theory, that could let ondansetron clear out of your body a little slower and build up, which might mean more of its usual side effects like headache, constipation, dizziness, or tiredness.

I want to be honest with you: this is based on test-tube research only, not real people, so it's a theoretical concern. The bigger worry, frankly, is the hidden stimulant itself. I'd steer clear of these products and check with your pharmacist or doctor first.

About Ondansetron

What Is Ondansetron Used For?

Brand name: Zofran

Ondansetron is used to prevent nausea and vomiting in several situations. Oral forms (tablets, orally disintegrating tablets, and oral solution) are approved to prevent nausea and vomiting from highly or moderately emetogenic (nausea-causing) cancer chemotherapy, from radiation therapy to the abdomen or whole body, and from surgery.

Ondansetron injection (given intravenously or intramuscularly in a clinical setting) is approved to prevent nausea and vomiting from emetogenic cancer chemotherapy — including high-dose cisplatin — in adults and children as young as 6 months old, as well as to prevent postoperative nausea and vomiting.
