Aristada (aripiprazole lauroxil) is a long-acting shot your body slowly turns into active aripiprazole, and one of the liver enzymes that clears it is called CYP3A4. In a lab dish, elderberry seemed to slow that enzyme down. If that happened in real life, aripiprazole could build up a bit, which might mean more side effects like drowsiness, restlessness, dizziness, tremor, or feeling lightheaded when standing.

Here's the honest part: this is only a test-tube finding, not something proven in people, so I wouldn't lose sleep over it. Still, because this medicine is a steady, long-acting injection, it's worth a quick word with your pharmacist or prescriber before adding elderberry supplements. Never change your shot schedule on your own.

Aripiprazole injection is used to treat schizophrenia and to provide maintenance treatment for bipolar I disorder in adults. Different injectable products carry these approvals.

Abilify Asimtufii is approved for the treatment of schizophrenia in adults and as maintenance monotherapy for bipolar I disorder in adults. Aristada is approved for the treatment of schizophrenia in adults, with Aristada Initio used specifically to help start Aristada therapy.
