At least one FDA label for a product containing Linaclotide says to take it on an empty stomach. Most supplements — American Spikenard included — are taken with a meal, so the easy mistake is swallowing both together at breakfast. Where that rule applies, keep Linaclotide on its own and move American Spikenard to a meal later in the day.

Linzess (linaclotide) treats three related conditions that cause difficult, infrequent bowel movements. In adults, it is approved for irritable bowel syndrome with constipation (IBS-C) and chronic idiopathic constipation (CIC — ongoing constipation with no identified cause). In children ages 7 and older, Linzess is approved for IBS-C. In children ages 2 and older, Linzess is approved for functional constipation (FC).
