Here's the simple version. Polythiazide (Renese) is a thiazide-type water pill. It already makes your body let go of extra fluid and some key minerals like sodium and potassium. American spikenard has a traditional reputation for being a diaphoretic, meaning it may make you sweat a little more. Stack a sweat-promoting herb on top of a water pill, and in theory you could lose a bit more fluid and salt than expected.

In practice, this is rated a minor interaction with only weak, theoretical evidence behind it, so don't panic. Just keep an eye out for dizziness, lightheadedness, muscle cramps, or feeling unusually thirsty or tired. If you notice any of those, or you plan to use spikenard regularly, check with your pharmacist or doctor first.
