Miglitol falls under ANTIDIABETES DRUGS — the group Arabinoxylan interacts with.

Evidence from human research suggests that an arabinoxylan-rich fiber can reduce postprandial glucose levels. Theoretically, arabinoxylan might have additive effects with antidiabetes drugs and increase the risk of hypoglycemia. Monitor blood glucose levels closely. Dose adjustments might be necessary. Some antidiabetes drugs include glimepiride (Amaryl), glyburide (DiaBeta, Glynase PresTab, Micronase), insulin, pioglitazone (Actos), rosiglitazone (Avandia), and others.

Here's an interesting overlap worth knowing about. Both miglitol and arabinoxylan work in a similar way, which is to slow down how fast sugar from your meals gets absorbed. Miglitol blocks the gut enzymes that break down complex sugars, while arabinoxylan is a fiber that slows digestion and blunts the rise in blood sugar after eating. So when you use them together, their effects can stack up.

Most of the time this just means a bit more blood sugar lowering, but in some people it could push you into low blood sugar (shakiness, sweating, dizziness, or feeling foggy). The evidence here is modest, but it's reasonable to check your blood sugar more closely if you start a concentrated fiber supplement. Talk with your pharmacist or doctor before changing anything, since your miglitol dose may need a tweak.
