Saxagliptin falls under ANTIDIABETES DRUGS — the group Arabinoxylan interacts with.

Evidence from human research suggests that an arabinoxylan-rich fiber can reduce postprandial glucose levels. Theoretically, arabinoxylan might have additive effects with antidiabetes drugs and increase the risk of hypoglycemia. Monitor blood glucose levels closely. Dose adjustments might be necessary. Some antidiabetes drugs include glimepiride (Amaryl), glyburide (DiaBeta, Glynase PresTab, Micronase), insulin, pioglitazone (Actos), rosiglitazone (Avandia), and others.

Here's the simple version: arabinoxylan is a fiber that can gently lower your blood sugar after meals by slowing digestion. Saxagliptin (Onglyza) works differently, helping your body release a bit more insulin when your sugar is high. Put them together and their blood-sugar-lowering effects can stack, so in theory your numbers could dip lower than expected.

The good news is that saxagliptin on its own rarely causes serious low blood sugar, so this combo is usually mild. Still, keep an eye out for shakiness, sweating, dizziness, or feeling lightheaded, especially if you also take other diabetes meds. The evidence here is fairly early, so don't change anything on your own. Just let your pharmacist or doctor know you're using both, and check your sugars a little more often at first.

Saxagliptin tablets are used to help adults with type 2 diabetes control their blood sugar levels. It is meant to be used together with diet and exercise, either alone or alongside other diabetes medicines.

Saxagliptin tablets are not for type 1 diabetes or diabetic ketoacidosis (a dangerous complication where the blood becomes too acidic).
