Glipizide falls under ANTIDIABETES DRUGS — the group Arabinoxylan interacts with.

Evidence from human research suggests that an arabinoxylan-rich fiber can reduce postprandial glucose levels. Theoretically, arabinoxylan might have additive effects with antidiabetes drugs and increase the risk of hypoglycemia. Monitor blood glucose levels closely. Dose adjustments might be necessary. Some antidiabetes drugs include glimepiride (Amaryl), glyburide (DiaBeta, Glynase PresTab, Micronase), insulin, pioglitazone (Actos), rosiglitazone (Avandia), and others.

Here's the simple version: glipizide already lowers your blood sugar by nudging your pancreas to release more insulin. Arabinoxylan is a fermentable fiber that can also blunt the rise in blood sugar after meals by slowing digestion. Stack the two together and the effects can add up, which means your sugar could dip lower than you expect.

So this isn't about the fiber changing how your body breaks glipizide down. It's more of an additive effect. The thing to watch for is low blood sugar (hypoglycemia), which can feel like shakiness, sweating, dizziness, hunger, or a racing heart. The evidence here is modest, but it's worth checking your readings more closely if you add this fiber. Please don't change your glipizide dose on your own, just loop in your pharmacist or doctor first.
